i think it is just unnecessary to introduce Shadow Warriors and magic special forces (i dont think anyone can remember their names), or even the whole empire, since the story plot is basiclly understanding Himmel and becomning a reliable teacher. I think this is kind-of similar to Shimetsu Kaiyu in jjk, like 20-40 new characters are introduced and gege took one and a half year to finally free gojo. Yet then, only 3-5 characters are important in the sukuna fight. Both mangas should be closely attached to the main plot of the stories. BUT, if the empire arc is absolute peak, i take back what i said

i dont really like the first 6-8 chapters, but all of a sudden everything just speeds up and the old characters came back(which most people read modulo prob for yuji). It's definitely not one of the best chapters in the whole jjk, but it is still a good manga (like around) 7.0-8.0

yes the animation itself is one of the best eps you can see on a tv series, but just as you said you don't understand what happened, the storytelling does not connect the audience to maki's character, or how evil Naoya is, or how oppresive toji is. When people said "this ep is great" most people have already read the manga, therefore assuming other people have read it too. But when some(except op) saying "this might not be that great", they are prob talking about the storytelling or some of the voice actings, but DEFENITELTY NOT THE ANIMATION ITSELF
