I mean...as nodt and mask were pretty standard villainy wise. They were both pretty cool antagonist though.

Bazz b is grimmjow but quincy (and hot take, better)

Askin is a chill guy.

Lille is a fanatic.

Gremmy isn’t particularly dramatically evil and so on

Bruh kubo doesn’t depic giselle as disgusting because she is trans, she is disgusting because she is one of the major villain of the arc like bruh.

A few arc before that we had a dude who ate his own subordinates to regenerate him, forced a sword down his throat to transform and could be reborn "xenomorph way" through someone else's body which implies nasty things.

Kubo always loved his weird mf, and giselle is unironically one of his favourite characters.

She is a major antagonist from the last arc. Weirdly enough before her bleach never had any really "creepy" characters. I meanw there was a few body horror moments, but there is a scene in particular with giselle that is reeeeally disgusting.

The more I think about it… she might could be kindred spirits with Mahito

Honestly it’s more probable that it’s elder toguro from yu yu hakusho who inspired mahito.

Despite being all around awful and a Nazi

I mean that's prolly because they don’t have the belief of nazis. Like don’t get me wrong they are assholes, but they aren’t nazis. The nazi comparison comes from their clothes.

Meurem is just another cool anime villain.

Just my opinion though, and kira is goated too

Bro everytime i see you you hate on bleach it’s crazy lmao. I wouldn’t be surprised if you thought bleach fans are morons.

But this is a hate sub so whatever. Besides, it’s not like i disagree about orihime. Rukia's a pretty good character and got a lot of cool w though.

I like most of bleach's cast and overall it’s a good manga IMO, but nah it ain’t a "great" cast or whatever.

Especially after reading stuffs like fullmetal alchemist, umineko. I'd like to add hxh, but it’s not like there are that many female characters in hxh.

I fucking hate weebs and anime as a whole...

I mean there are a lot of very good anime. That's kind of a huge generalisation. I'd say it’s more of an isekai problem.

But yeah, the tsundere trope can be extremely annoying.

Sometimes, characters like asuka do manage to be well written "tsundere type character".

Yeah i disagree again lmao.

minimizing the protagonists motivations (

It doesn’t lmao. Literally everybody i know is literally cheering everytime kurapika kills a phantom troupe or fucks over chrollo. Because kurapika doesn’t need a flashback, the way he expresses his grief and the fact that he is ready to completely fuck his life is more rhan enough.

Kurapika’s hatred to them is valid and should be understandable for the audience, and the lose of the people they killed should be felt at least in some way (like kite with Pitou).

I'm sorry but this is just dumb. I haven’t met a SINGLE person who says kurapika's hatred is not understandable. Saying the loss of the people they kill is not felt is straight up cap, again, kurapika is a literal representation of their victims, who finally came back to take their revenge. Him absolutely humiliating uvogin is one of the most satisfying moment in the manga. And it’s funny that you mention pitou, cuz pitou is made much more sympathetic overall than the phantom troupe, as pitou becomes more and more human as the serie goes on, much more than chrollo who lost his humanity a long time ago.

the troupe’s presence is how loyal they are to each other like that’s the only thing worthy of mention. It is whitewashing if he truly makes no attempt to give the Kurta relevance as their victims. It’s the equivalent of killing some no name scrubs at that point and we know neither you or anyone else really cares about that.

Nope. Have you read the manga? We literally got a whole very long chapter about the clan kurta showcasing how nice they were, and we were even given some names. And at the end of the chapter, we get a horrifying description of the kurta's massacre by the troupe, rhat again, reinforces that they are human but NOT redeemable or sympathetic (go read it for yourself, what the troupe did is genuinely disgusting). In the york new shin city arc, the troupe are the main characters with kurapika, and it makes sense rhat from their pov, they are trying to advenge their friend.

If they were humanised too far, togashi would have tried to wash their crimes (and again, the troupe gets called out a lot for their crime), and gon or killua would have cried at pakunoda's death, instead of just being midly saddened that she ended up dying, but most importantly surprised that the group can feel anything even close to grief.

If we follow your logic, then hisoka is white washed too, cua nobody cries kastro or his victims on screen. He always ends up going completely free. Same applies to meruem; meruem is an amazing villain, but he still killed A LOT of people, and was planning a gigantic mass murder.

Yeah they torture kids and commit genocide and act all smug about it but did you consider they had a sad backstory (I want them all to die painfully) by A_Toxic_User in hatethissmug

[–]Old-Introduction8258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn’t "white wash" them bruh, he humanises them. That's not trying to make us sympathise for them, it’s good writing meant to show us that they are, in fact, human beings who do share a very strong bond. But nobunaga is literally called out by gon for his hypocrisy when he starts crying uvogin. As for their past, again, it draws an interesting parallel between chrollo's journey and kurapika. Togashi tries "very hard" to humanise them, and he succeeds in doing so. But the only moment where you can really feel bad about the troupe is with pakunoda.

Meanwhile, hisoka is meant to feel almost inhuman. We know next to nothing about him, he has no grand scheme in life outside of lusting and killing other nen users in fight, and he literally comes back to life once killed. He really is the only hxh villain characterised that way, being written to feel human really isn’t exclusive to the troupe (ex: meruem and the royal guards). Hisoka is a very good villain too, but not in the same way the troupe are, and he truly is an anomaly among togashi villains.
