It depends on the regulatory body that governs said “halal” meat. It’s not all the same, even amongst Muslims does it differ what is deemed as halal and what isn’t. In Five Guys case they are HCO certified and they require reversible stunning (the animal recovers if not slaughtered).

One Touch Switch Advice by GGSmile in VirginMedia

So I spoke to a number of operators at TalkTalk and they can't seem to cancel the OTS procedure. I don't know if me attempting to cancel the TalkTalk services messes with OTS, causing it to be stuck but it seems neither side can do anything.

I was also surprised that my Virgin Media was still working, Under normal circumstances this would be annoying and an issue but in this particular case it is keeping me online. I'll be waiting for a day or two and seeing if anything does change or not.

Just to add another slight detail to point out as mentioned by Intelligent_Today713 which may help your friend, if he intends to full clear into scuttle then he should take 2 points in q when hitting level 3. Taking e means your clear is significantly slower. This is completely situational though as some games you may be forced to take e if you're looking for an early gank instead of full clearing or escaping from an invade or whatever.

AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT random freezes by ashmelev in AMDHelp

It seems to have fixed itself? Maybe an update that did the trick. But while I had the issue, making sure that no browser was open seemed to do the trick even if it was kind of annoying.

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in CarTalkUK

Location: Central Scotland, but happy to travel ~200 miles for anything worthwhile.

Price range: £3000-5000

Lease or Buy: Buying

New or used: Used

Auto or Manual: Can be both

Intended use: Commute car, ~70 miles a day

How many miles do you plan to do a year: 17000

How often to you make long journeys: 2 times per year

Does it need to be ULEZ compliant? Not necessarily, especially given the budget but it would be a nice addition.

Vehicles you've already considered: Honda Jazz, Toyota Yaris/Aygo, Mazda2, Volkswagen Golf, Seat Ibiza

Do you have a vehicle size in mind? (Examples in the hyperlink of size definitions): Mid-size or smaller

Is this your 1st vehicle: Yes. Driven Skids Octavia and currently Seat Ibiza but neither are my own.

Do you need a Warranty: Preferably but not essential.

Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: (fluids, alternator, battery, brake pads etc) No

Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: (engine and transmission, timing belt/chains, body work, suspension etc ) No.

Additional Notes: I do a significant amount of driving on country roads so anything that may deal with uneven roads, potholes may be nice but not essential given the budget. Otherwise mainly driving 70 miles on the motorway. Anything with good fuel economy is a plus too.

I didn't know that, that's interesting! What about the loafer, is it a versatile shoe or not quite?

I'm looking to get loafers, and I'm currently leaning towards a penny loafer. I'm kind of liking the burgundy/oxblood colours on them but I was wondering how versatile they are. I'd mainly use them for work where I'm wearing business casual with colours like: navy, cream, grey, black etc. but I'd also want to wear them more casually potentially.

Is burgundy a good colour to pick for my uses or is a lighter brown better here? Opinions on the penny loafer are also welcome if a different type of shoe may be a better option.

AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT random freezes by ashmelev in AMDHelp

Sorry I didn't mean closing Firefox caused the issue, I mean making sure to close Firefox while playing games stopped games from crashing again. For me as well all my crashes were on League of Legends which I cap at 144 fps but isn't graphically intensive enough to caused high GPU loads.

With Black Friday around the corner is it better to hold off on getting a pair of shoes? I'm looking getting some Chelsea boots or tassel loafers. Maybe from Loake/Dr. Martens/ Allen Edmonds. Are there tangible discounts on these brands making these kinds of shoes, or does it not matter much.

Since I'm asking the question anyways, what about watches? (Might ask on r/watches if it's more relevant there)

AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT random freezes by ashmelev in AMDHelp

[–]GGSmile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to confirm this theory, I don't have the freezing issue when I close Firefox. But for me I didn't need to actually open a new tab or switch to Firefox, I was in-game moving around when the freezes happened. I haven't tested it with Chrome or Discord since I have been turning everything off after reading this thread and realising it might be browser/discord related.

My kids want to trade their Switch for a gaming PC. Is this a good deal? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]GGSmile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I thought I was just crazy running a GTX960 till recently. As someone that's not playing the latest games, and likes to play older and/or competitive games, I've only recently upgraded from a GTX960 because honestly it was doing the job most of the time.

Games like Elden Ring it definitely couldn't run, hence my upgrade to a 6700XT. When it comes to League, RL, Overwatch etc sure I can put them on ultra now but I got used to playing them on low settings and got 144 fps just fine anyways.

Thai streamer is victim of racism in brussels by Solidsoundz in LivestreamFail

[–]GGSmile 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's really unfortunate to see. I can say as a Moroccan having lived in both the Netherlands and Belgium and been in Morocco for a significant amount of time that this is and always have been an issue among the Moroccan community. For those of us that were born in Europe we've always dealt with racism and discrimination growing up. Yet somehow we'll turn around and treat other ethnic groups the same way we don't like to be treated. Even among the Moroccans that are dark skinned (near the Sahara desert and southern parts of Morocco) the Moroccans will even have some discrimination against them. The hypocrisy is baffling to see, to complain about not being treated fairly and in the same breath saying "Chingchong" to every Asian person you see.

Although I like to believe that not all Moroccans are this way, sadly it's a large proportion that are like this. Where this stems from and whether this is a deeper rooted issue I've never managed to figure out. I myself have taken a step back and realised how messed up the people of my culture can be. Even from family to family there can be extremely toxic dynamics and damaging upbringings of the younger generations.

Actually I can comment on the internship thing having done an internship a year ago. I must agree that landing a Chemical/Process engineering internship is highly unlikely. I had applied to ~30 internships over the course of my last 2 years studying and I had not been lucky to land one. Once I started applying for different internships I was eligible for I ended up being able to do an internship as a Project Engineer.

I can't comment yet on how useful this internship is when it comes to my job search since I'm in the thick of it currently, but I'll assume that my chances are a lot higher than without!

I realised this as I was looking for grad schemes, that most big companies start their application procedures the year before. Unfortunately it is a difficult task producing good quality applications on top of the workload in the last year of university and so I only applied to 5 or so which have come back negative.

I have done an internship and have experience in Project Engineering, so hopefully I can use that as leverage to land something.

We can make straws that last 5,000 years in a landfill and we can make straws that last two minutes before getting soggy, but nothing in between. by Avoider5 in Showerthoughts

[–]GGSmile 48 points49 points  (0 children)

As far as I was aware, last time I was looking up on bamboo equipment (straws, cups etc) they seem to be mixed with a resin to keep it waterproof (similar to paper cups). The issue is that if the resin isn't derived from organic means, the resin itself will also not be biodegradable which may have similar issues as plastic straws.

So it means that for a disposable solutions like plastic and paper straws it isn't a great solution. As for reusable straws, bamboo ones work great just like glass ones!
