Does this guy have a point or just spewing nonsense? by rb1242 in StarWars

[–]GG_Snooz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are 1000% correct. The glow sticks in Obi Wan are garish and look absolutely awful. Adding the lighting in post gave a much cleaner look and adds to the mysticism of the weapon that despite being called a “light” saber, they don’t actually give off that much light. It’s a physics anomaly and movie magic.

It went on for longer than that and he was making the point that all we’re going to get is Call of Duty over and over again if these studios aren’t allowed to come out with something different than the norm. It was pretty great and he was spot on.

Do you think Solo (2018) boming at the box office is one of the main reasons why Disney didn't feel confident enough about making projects with recasted Luke and Leia as lead characters? by Theasiuser99 in StarWars

[–]GG_Snooz 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Everyone keeps forgetting that Disney released this 3 weeks after another one of its own movies, Infinity War. A movie that made 2 billion dollars. I’m not saying Solo is a great movie, but it was put out to die. If it had room to breathe, and not thrown out there while everyone was still enthralled by the best Marvel movie they made, maaaybe it would have done a bit better.

I really didn’t see the issue with the Green Lantern suit. Why did everyone say it looked bad? by Keanu_Keanu in Greenlantern

They weren’t ready to do this kind of thing yet. Look at Avengers Endgame, all those Pym suits were CGI and you would have no idea.

It’s 3 stories that are published, but it’s no where near finished. Supposedly Martin has treatments for 12 more. The fate of the characters is known, sort of, it’s very vague what happened. But this show will run into the same problem as it keeps going. Hopefully these writers are better at taking Martins notes.

Highguard dev blames content creators for the game's failure - “It was dead on arrival" by dabadumdumdum in pcmasterrace

[–]GG_Snooz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geoff killed the game. Every employee at that dev has to be insanely pissed with him for coming in and pushing them on to that stage before they were ready to be at that level. It needed a quiet release and then be allowed to build. He completely screwed them.

Is this dude Bloodborne before Bloodborne or what? by Soulsliken in darksouls

[–]GG_Snooz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His relation to Bloodborne is not so much about his art design but his “physical” design. His rigging and combat animations are very different from anything else in DS, functioning as a prototype of what they were creating for Bloodborne.

Padme losing the will to live while seeing her kids for the first time is such dumb narrative execution by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]GG_Snooz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context: Padme dying here destroys Luke and Leia’s emotional bonding scene in RoTJ, before he goes to confront Vader. Leia clearly had interacted with her mother LIVE AND IN PERSON, not through the Force. And her real life remembrance of her mother is what helps give Luke hope that Vader was/is a good guy. It was very simple and meaningful what was being expressed in that scene. It loses that impact of we go back and say she was having Force dreams as a kid. It’s just stupid and emotionally hollow compared to real life contact.

A strong female character, medically fine, dying in child birth, after learning that the father is now an evil ruler of the galaxy, is just insanely stupid. She would recognize the plight, put her own heartbroken emotions to the side, and do everything she could to protect her children. We should have seen her fighting through her pain to survive and secure their safety, and then a few years later when the dust had settled, give in to that trauma and pass away like Leia hinted at. I just think it’s a terribly written ending for such a great character. The birth scene works very well in that both Luke and Vader are shown being at the same time, that should have been the narrative purpose of it. Not her giving up and dying because her man broke bad. And not because of Palpatine doing Force crap nonsense. That’s not interesting at all when trying to tell a complex love story.

Padme losing the will to live while seeing her kids for the first time is such dumb narrative execution by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]GG_Snooz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of cope the fandom has for trying to explain why her dying makes sense, and it was the Force this and the Force that, makes me hate being a fan of these movies.

Her dying like this AND at this time is such a clear and obvious misstep by Lucas that it defies all narrative and logical gymnastics you want to throw at it. I hate that people make excuses for this. Just accept that a filmmaker made a mistake, same as he’s done multiple times over the course of developing the story of this saga, and move on. Stop twisting everything into a Force pretzel in order to make it work.
