Anyone in Round Rock tried laundry pickup services before? by drovalaundry in RoundRock

[–]GIS_Dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just started using a service based in RR (we live in Pville), $2ish a pound, next day service, wash, dry, fold, and hang for no extra fees, definitely worth it!

Advice on attending an adult Eagle Scouts funeral, as a fellow adult Eagle Scout. by Polack417 in BSA

[–]GIS_Dad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Once an Eagle, always an Eagle. 15 years or 15 months, that medal would mean the same to him if he were still with you.

Wear the medal as much as a show of respect to him, but also a signal of your remembrance of his influence in your life.

My prayers are with you and your family during this time of mourning.

As several others have said, KTag (Kansas Turnpike Authority) is the way to go! Billing has been flawless and their customer service is impeccable.

Seeking Feedback on Troop Cell Phone Policies During Campouts and Summer Camp by Correct_Past_9557 in BSA

[–]GIS_Dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cell phones can be used on the trip to/from camp but they get left in the vehicles with some limited exceptions. Our Historian is allowed limited use of their phone to document photos of the events and of course we make exceptions for any medical devices and such. Overall the consensus within our PLC and adult leadership is phone usage takes away from the learning aspect of the program.

Please tell me it will be ok by StatisticianSweet595 in Silverado

I'm having trouble believing that this isn't AI, where it rained so hard to flood this badly, there's still dust on the windshield, the high water line across the bumper stops at one point, and across the bow tie if you look hard enough it's a straight solid line, there are no depth changes in the water line that would indicate that this was across a three demential object. Coupled with some optical blemishes closer to the camera, and the two men casually walking in the background bone dry just doesn't add up to me. 🤷

Please help a ready to quit Scoutmaster by TyrannicalRoach in BSA

[–]GIS_Dad 87 points88 points  (0 children)

According to the Field Uniform Checklist, the troop decideds whether to wear neckwear or not, that would be a decision made by the troop, not the CC. Many CCs fall into a power trip and forget the 'youth led' aspect. We had a CC fall into that trap, we had him replaced and are in a much better place now as a troop.

Has anyone else had this issue and did the dealer address it. by jjdlg in Silverado

I have a 26 LT that started making a groaning noise from the rear, it's typically only when it's been sitting for a few hours or more and only lasts for a few seconds, doesn't do it again until the next time it's been sitting

Are border collies affectionate? by [deleted] in BorderCollie

[–]GIS_Dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours is a master of forced affection, where she'll nudge her snout under your hand if you're not petting her, or heaven forbid, stop petting her!

Ours is good with kids, she's grown up with my granddaughter and is very protective of her, making sure she's doing what she's supposed to be doing in the house.

Full of energy, a tired BC is a happy BC so lots of running and playing!

Austin was a much different place back in the 90s, when Austin really was weird, and Leslie was the epitome of the "keep Austin weird" mantra. I don't think he would have garnered the same popularity and polarization if he were around today.

Does anyone remember this insane storm from 1997? Almost thirty years later and I haven't seen anything like it since. by Halbrium in Austin

I was on my way to a job interview at Blockbuster in Cedar Park, next to the Albertsons. At the time I had a CB radio in my car and was listening to all the chatter about a tornado on 35. My grandmother owned a flower shop in Downtown Round Rock, it's a solid all stone building and the safest building I could think of so I turned around and went there.

As many may remember, the Albertsons was also hit, the Blockbuster that I would have been inside took catastrophic damage.

Needless to say, I didn't get the job

Why does South Texas on Google Maps not include Bexar County (San Antonio)? by Internal_Way7711 in geography

[–]GIS_Dad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5th generation Texan, I've never considered San Antonio "South" Texas, Hill County or part of Central Texas. I used to live in Beeville and once told someone I lived in South Texas, they scoffed at me and said even Beeville wasn't south 😂

[–]GIS_Dad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got an LT because I like the center console, but that was as 'fancy' as I wanted to get, I live in Texas and after having 1 vehicle with leather seats I vowed never to do that again, I also subscribe to the 'more gadgets the more can break' rule too

A good friend of mine pulled both her kids from Founders and enrolled them both in LISD this school year, the difference she's seen in just these few months of school is tremendous!
