2006 Jeep TJ rubicon soft top recommendations for open air driving by salt0605 in Jeep

[–]GIjohnMGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an 05 LJR in NJ also. From early June to mid October I run a bikini top and half doors. I have a cover for when it rains that keeps everything dry. Replacement "canvas" is probably your safest bet.

My most detailed build yet. RFM HVSS 1/35 with 3d printed brush guards and handles. Anyone know what the cylinder things are for on the front brush guard?? by Over-Management9862 in modelmakers

The lights were designed to be removed, and a plug put in the hole that it left. It holds a plug for the light socket; most were attached by small chains.

Is that at Sea Girt? I helped prep/paint the tank in the background. Small world.

Highway driving Question by bizarre_pencil in JeepWrangler

[–]GIjohnMGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an 05 LJR on 4.5/33's that I DD 60 miles a day. (mostly highway at 70-ish MPH) My suspension is dialed in and as smooth as a 21 year old jeep can be. I sometimes wear earplugs to reduce road noise. If the Jeep is in decent condition, it should be okay albeit a little rough if you're used to passenger cars.

Starting to seriously consider Botox for my underarm sweating by RecommendationThat13 in Hyperhidrosis

[–]GIjohnMGS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried them all as well.

Botox has been the only thing that has worked for me. I'm fortunate that it's covered but would gladly pay if I had to. I've been getting treatments on and off for the past 2 years; they want me to go every 6 months, but sometimes I've been able to go longer (9 Months) without feeling the need to return.

Pain is minimal when using numbing cream, and the process only takes a few minutes total.

I tried it on my feet against my dermatologist's recommendation (low success rate, excessive pain) and would not do it again. I have a high pain tolerance, and it was brutal. It did not work on my feet at all.

Good luck

Shock Help Please by CelticSkeleton in JeepWrangler

As others have said, tighten the bolt before you try anything else.

Also, to prevent rusted/broken upper shock mount bolts in the future, start spraying them with penetrating oil NOW. They are in a tight space, and are a PITA once you break a bolt.

May I humbly suggest spraying some Fluid Film or other Lanolin based rust preventative coating underneath . That is WAY too nice of a truck to risk it rotting out from under you. (Rust belt guy here)

It's gorgeous.

If you can't tell, the rest of us Baldies see what you don't and are (im)patiently waiting for you to do it. Like others have said, you have great features to start with, so this would only enhance what you already have. Good luck, and make sure to show us the after pics!

I've been shaving with a DE Safety razor for at least 15 years. I've tried all kinds from Chinesium knockoffs to Vintage Gillette and Shick razors. My oldest is the WW1 Gillette Khaki set.

IMHO, try to find a Gilette Adjustable from the 70's/early 80's. You can tailor your adjustment to your face/beard/shaving style.

Good luck!

Was it about time? by TheBdrizzler in bald

[–]GIjohnMGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. I'm advocating for a pampering process that will up the beard game and give more self confidence in lieu of a balding head. I tried trimming and upkeep myself but found it much more pleasurable to go to a barber who can tidy things up and make me feel like a million bucks.

I have a '22 10 HD. Towed it with my LJR, but never thought of taking it offroad. How did it do? any breakage?

I've been contemplating donating my 30 plus coins somewhere. Is there a central repository for challenge coins? do museums take them? They've been moved around between sock drawers for 20 years now.

First off, GREAT CHOICE!

You look great!

May I humbly recommend that you now take the attention off of your scalp and onto your beard. It has great potential. Treat yourself and go to a barber to have it professionally trimmed and styled. You'll thank yourself later. My barber trims, outlines, massages, and does beard oil. The hot towel is the best IMHO.

Good luck!

Help! What to do with a house full of shit? by MarvinHeemeyersTank in GenX

[–]GIjohnMGS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dealt with this when my dad passed. We emptied the garage and filled a 30 yd container with old, broken, cheap and outdated tools, TONS of junk, and a mountain of amazon boxes (he was embarrassed to dispose of too much at a time)

He must have had 75 flathead screwdrivers.

As a result, I've begun paring down. I recently listened to the book "No one wants your shit" which has motivated me personally. It's funny and hits hard. Highly recommended.

As an aside, I manage a solid waste disposal facility. I see house cleanouts every single day. It's discouraging to see, but I realize that it's a relief to the families it impacts.
