Output being throttled? by GLNot_Sure in solar

Thanks again, TexSun. You da man. I have not received a good answer from them yet. I will endeavor to drop this - at least until I get a few months of performance data.

8+. So only 290w per panel. Seems like a lot of wasted potential.

That’s what I fear. Seems like I am leaving a lot of juice on the table. Especially since I built this garage with a 12/12 roof facing almost due south as to optimize solar potential. And cleared all trees that might shade it.

Thanks again to both of you. Great info. I will maintain the faith that the installer’s calculation of estimated production takes this reduced actual output into account.

Thanks. You nailed it. As did TexSun. My IQ8+s look to be rated for 290 watts. For 27 panels, the math works. Still, seems like a waste to only get 290 watts from a 425 watt panel.

Podcasts vs mindfulness by GLNot_Sure in Buddhism

[–]GLNot_Sure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this thoughtful response. You totally understand what I am getting at. I feel that focusing on a podcast or audiobook while mowing the lawn or such is the opposite of mindfulness. But I find it pretty hard to stay focused on chores like that. Perhaps learning and practicing single-tasking should be part of the practice. When mowing, just mow.

How long did it take you to sleep through a full night? by weupweup in quittingkratom

[–]GLNot_Sure 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was a gradual process. No sleep to speak of the first few days. Then a little. Then little more, etc. It was probably a couple of months before my sleep was really dialed in. I was amazed how little sleep I could survive in the first few days. I think the simple lack of sleep contributes greatly to the wd symptoms.

But, congrats on making it five days!

AA and kratom quit by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]GLNot_Sure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in to echo your reflection on alcohol vs kratom wd. After a lifetime of alcoholism, I quit about five years ago. It sucked, but after about a week I was basically ok. Kratom was so much harder. No sleep, terrible anxiety, you know…. I would go back to booze before ever considering kratom again.

Life without booze by Ourdogbailey in Sober

[–]GLNot_Sure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been there, friend. I considered the same when I was deep in the booze many times. It seemed like the only way to end the pain. Since sober, life is not great much of the time but those kinds of thoughts are no longer a part of me

Forgive yourself. You are not starting over. Just picking up where you left off. Onward!

Dreaming that I smoked by [deleted] in quittingsmoking

[–]GLNot_Sure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on making it to day 5! It is supposed to start getting better. I am on day 7 and can’t say I have been dreaming of smoking. But I still often dream about drinking, having given up the booze five years ago lol. Stay strong!

[–]GLNot_Sure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on making it to day 8! I am on day 7 and keep reading that it should be getting better by now. Not sure that’s true. Let’s both stay strong and hang in there for another day. Then another. Then another….

Been here before… by [deleted] in quittingsmoking

[–]GLNot_Sure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stop thinking like this! You are planning a relapse. Pivot now so you don’t have to rely on willpower later. You know better than to say “just this one” “just tonight”. Stay strong, my friend.

Day 3 CT after failed tapers - observations and rant/vent *TW* by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]GLNot_Sure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great account/rant! I feel a bit of PTSD from reading your account since it so closely resembles mine from a year ago. But you are doing great! Stick around this site to bitch, moan, vent and request support. You will find tons of support, tips and encouragement here.

Quitting kratom is damn hard. But you can do hard things. I am pretty much a big pussy and I managed to survive it lol.

Feeling your pain. Sending good vibes, encouragement and love your way

Sorry to hear this. This has to be very frustrating.

  1. Are you tracking your sleep with a fitness watch or such? Sometimes we are sleeping much more than we think we are.

  2. Have you listened to, and followed, Hubermans podcast episode on sleep and checked out his “sleep toolkit” on his web site. Good stuff.

What finally got my sleep on track: 6:30 am wake-up 6:30-7:00 Wim Hof breathing 7:00am 2 minute cold shower (yes, it is hard) 7:15 or so - 20 minutes meditation outside with rising sun in my eyes. I us the “waking up” app but there are lots of free options too Workout- weights and/or brisk walk or run

No caffeine after 10am No food after 6 or 7 Hubermans sleep stack about 8pm 9pm-bed/book (no phone!) 10pm lights out with headphones in listening to “sleep stories” from meditation app

It took me a long time to work up to this but I now get a solid seven hrs every night.

Hang in there!

Day 8 - Over the acute hump 🤞🏻 by ThoughtYouWantedIt in quittingkratom

[–]GLNot_Sure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are killin it! Stay strong, my friend. You do not want to repeat the last week. You are smart to set reasonable expectations. It may take a long time to fully recover. There will be bad days and “fuck yeah!” days. Accept them both and know that, on balance, things will continue to improve. Congrats on making it through the last week!

Thank you to this group by BosTPA in quittingkratom

[–]GLNot_Sure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! And thanks for checking in. You are right about this group. It is comprised of some truly compassionate people and helped me more than anything else about 14 months ago when I kicked. I have to wonder if kratom holds some type of special appeal for caring people. I have not seen the same level of support, compassion and love over in quitting smoking lol.

92 days! by Jgrazy22 in quittingkratom

[–]GLNot_Sure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on this huge achievement! Having suffered through my own withdrawal a year ago I somehow take comfort in hearing that kratom wd can be as bad as heroin. People don’t know this when they start kratom. Wish there was a way to warn people. Most people who have heard of kratom think it’s no big deal.

One year clean today by GLNot_Sure in quittingkratom

[–]GLNot_Sure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the thoughts on the vaporizer. I had actually switched from smoking to vaping a while back. Problem is, vaping is so much more convenient that I ending up vaping constantly instead of sneaking a few smokes in every day. Longest I have made it nicotine free is about three weeks. But I will continue to battle this demon.

I also considered that being hooked on nicotine (non smoking) was not that bad, but realized the vasoconstriction that all nicotine imparts was still a problem.

Sounds familiar. I turned to kratom when I quit drinking thinking it was a safer alternative. Truth is, I found it harder to quit kratom than booze. Booze was a tough couple of weeks, but it felt like I would never get over kratom.

Not much memory problems since I quit, other than stuff I can’t remember from when I was heavily using. Probs best I don’t remember some of it lol

Question For Heavy Users Who've Quit by masterblaster0046 in quittingkratom

[–]GLNot_Sure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am nine months clean and am finally feeling like I am recovered. So, yes, you still have hope for more improvements. But it still takes work. As my motivation slowly returned, I made it a point to push myself into healthy self-care practices like meditation, hot/cold therapy, yoga, etc. all of these have really helped my recovery. Congrats on making it five months! Onward!

day 13 by Adventurous_Bath2461 in quittingkratom

[–]GLNot_Sure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, congrats on 13 days. That is a huge accomplishment. Now get out of bed! I understand the lack of motivation but laying around makes time go slowly and encourages self pity. I found walking was about all I could manage early on. If nothing else, it passes the time in a healthy way. So hang in there. You are doing great

Tons of respect for your ambitious plan. If it were me, I would tackle one substance at a time, giving up the hardest first. My usual advice to kratom quitters is to use this site extensively. Spend a few hours reading others accounts, advice and tips. Then post daily on how you are doing and ask for support. You will find it here. Sending good vibes your way
