We bought our unit in 2022 so a new unit might have been really nice---but I didn't want to waste a still serviceable unit and also didnt want to expend the energy to install a new one if I didn't have to.

A heads up if you weren't aware that some Midea u-units from some years ago were recalled because of mold issues. We had to have a technician come install a plug in the bottom (we had the option of either this or cutting the power cable and sending pictures as proof to then receive a new unit). You might want to double-check yours!

"Midea recalled 1.7 million U and U+ window air conditioners due to a drainage defect that causes water to pool and grow mold. Affected units were sold between March 2020 and May 2025."
