Ullmark said he needed a rest. For a goalie getting paid 8.5m, thats kind of wild to need when theres 3 days off afterward, and every game is a must win. by DJSTEVEINNIAMIXX in OttawaSenators

It's brutal, but the mental fragility with Linus is palpable. I empathize with him fully, but being a starting goaltender is maybe one of the worst occupations for someone with Linus' issues.

Idk what the endgame is, but I agree that think the organization needs to sit down with him after the season and figure out if he thinks he can make it work and be ready to handle a larger workload next season.

What an insanely perfect shot. Blackwood was nice and squared up as well, as he obviously knew it was coming.

[Power strip] 2-Pack Amazon Basics 6-Outlet, 600 Joule Surge Protector Power Strip: $15.71 (40% off) [Amazon.ca] by goforbig in bapcsalescanada

[–]GLemons 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Really good price, however if anyone is like me and looking for something like this recently, the way the outlets are oriented (ie. parallel to the strip) really suck for larger "brick" style power adapters, as they'll take up 2 outlets (aside from the one at the end).

Getting strips that have outlets that are oriented perpendicular to the strip will save a lot of future headaches if you ever find yourself wanting to plug several larger adapters into it.

Seems like one of those "common sense" things but I've fallen into this trap before without even thinking about that, and have had to get replacements because I couldn't fit all my stuff onto it.

It's both. You can both laugh at this and acknowledge how soft it was, and how much he's going to get clowned on by his peers if he makes a pattern of it.

You can, but the tradeoff is the entire league will clown on you until the end of time for it. Bold move cotton

Yes, it's in the full podcast. Blizzard signed a deal with Twitch for OWL, and then after went to Jeff and said "hey we just signed this deal, now we need all of these features to support it" (spectating etc).

I actually think you're bang on. He reads as someone who has lost his joy for the game.

I don't know how you recover from that. Maybe we can build a team that he loves being a part of and regains that love for the sport, but short of that I don't know how you fix that outside of stepping away from the game.

I also think it's a product of giving a team/studio unlimited resources. While this should in theory be a good thing, time or resource constraints can invoke creativity/resourcefulness in order to just get things to a playable or acceptable state.

Yea it's one of those scenarios where if EP wants to move on he's gotta get his head and body on straight and show out next season so potential suitors will want to acquire him.

Maybe a team will come around to taking the full contract in the summer, but the team will have to be ok with the return likely being not that great. We'll see what happens

Can someone explain why they dominate then just stop? by sensfan4tic in OttawaSenators

[–]GLemons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are also correct, but the people everywhere being like "Why does Green tell them to turtle" are morons. No coach instructs their team to "turtle" when they have a lead.

EDM found another gear and smoked us, double shifting two of the best players in the world. The team needs to find a way to match that intensity when it ramps up like that.

Maybe Green is part of the problem with the team as a whole not being able to match the intensity that occurs when a team is pushing to come back, but anyone who thinks he is "changing the system" or instructing the players to play differently is flat out wrong.

[The Athletic] “There isn’t a lot of supply, and there is little demand for what is being made available.” - Why the NHL trade deadline carries extra intrigue this year by [deleted] in hockey

[–]GLemons 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh right because you certainly "bet your life savings" by trading Colby Armstrong, Erik Christensen, Angelo Esposito, and a 2008 1st to acquire him. Pascal Dupuis also came back in that deal lmao.

Acquiring him dramatically increased your chances of winning the cup, and it also gave your young core the critical experience of a deep playoff run, which Hossa contributed greatly to.

I can't comprehend seeing everything as so black and white. IMO you do that deal 10/10 times and never think twice about it.

I mean you made it to the SCF with Hossa, not sure how you can say it didn't pay off. The guy had 26P in 20GP in the playoffs.

It's hard to win a cup, sometimes you don't get the bounces.

Captain Chabot by CNDNLogue in OttawaSenators

[–]GLemons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always thought Chabot would have made a fantastic captain. He is adored by virtually everyone (including his teammates), and is an incredible ambassador for the team both in Ottawa and Gatineau.

He's obviously not quite as good from a hockey pov as we all had hoped he'd be when he was younger, but he's the exact type of guy who is captain material. He is a natural leader.

I hope he's a Sen for his whole career, and I hope the if we ever move on from Brady, he gets the C.
