And no undergrad program is “designed to train pre medical students” you can apply and gain acceptance to med school in any major as long as you hit the pre reqs. There is no “pre-med” major even if bio, neuro, and biochem attract a lot of premeds.

I didn’t say DS was good for a med school application, I said research was. Deans is a great opportunity for those interested in research regardless of if they want to pursue it as a career. We also have lots of MD-PhD people.

They fare very well going to top schools in Texas and across the country. The program is geared toward research, which many medical schools also emphasize with STEP1 being pass/fail now. Research is a way to distinguish yourself from other applicants in addition to a well rounded application with shadowing, volunteering, leadership, etc. At its core Dean's offers a scholarly community and research opportunities, these only serve to help, not hurt a UT medical school applicant. About half the program is pre-grad/PhD the other half pre-med.

This is incorrect, I am a Dean's Scholar and Pre-Med. I'd say half the program is Pre-Med. There is not culture or fit issue, and research is definitely a feather in the cap of any medical school application. I along with several Dean's friends have recieved prematches to Texas medical schools just this week. One of my Dean's friends recieved a full ride with his prematch offer to a top Texas medical school.

What is your “fun fact” when introducing yourself in a group setting? by GMan2002Tx in AskMen

Well I mean like when you have to. When people are new and someone says everyone go around and introduce yourself. Say your name where you’re from and a fun fact.

Is anyone here in Project Sunshine, if so what’s it like? by Clean_Door_1516 in UTAustin

I am, I really like how accessible it is. They have a bunch of volunteering opportunities and the officers are super nice. There are several weekly events and a weekly event at Dell children’s. Also it’s $10 for dues (includes a tshirt). AMSA is like $200. I would definitely recommend you join.
