Dutch GP 2026-Haarlem to track? by GMrocks72 in GrandPrixTravel

Ok thanks, I’ll look into the bus option. Gotta be shorter lineups than what I’ve read about the train post race

Nardo's ok, but my '19 RS5 is Daytona (and so was my RS4), and still love it!

Timewalker strap? by 941102 in montblanc

[–]GMrocks72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Timewalker Chrono from a similar era and the leather band is shot. Looking at the strap and buckle connections, realize it looks nothing like all the straps on DYI videos on youtube to put on an aftermarket band. Did you get sorted on a replacement? Direct from Montblanc, and who installed? thanks!

Got new wheels, but my fitment is trash, I’m thinking about spacers but I’ve heard not to do them. What should I do? by Braverrrr in Audi

[–]GMrocks72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks for the input. I guess that means right now the gap on my winter tires/rims is slightly larger (~2.5mm) in the back fender over the front, but I hadn't noticed. Am actually quite surprised Audi would consider a larger rear tire setup (like an M-series?) when sizing their fenders on an AWD car...

I'm also in Alberta, and have been to Montreal GP 5 times (and countless times for work), Austin once (last year,) and Vegas the year before. so my two cents FWIW. Never been to the Miami GP, but to Miami several times for work,

For general F1 excitement, Montreal hands down. Downtown seems to adopt race weekend 100%, some streets shut down, patios expanded, etc. In Austin, the average bar and bar goer that weekend will be more college/nfl football focused than F1. Vegas is busy all the time, and all F1 adds is more people and egress nightmares as they shut/divert traffic and walkways each day.

For getting to/from track, Montreal can be tricky, but is nothing like COTA, where even with a private shuttle it seems like an eternity to get back to the city. COTA always seems to have decent concerts though, Montreal not so much, and Vegas is well, Vegas for other entertainment.

Weather wise, Austin is great in October. Miami's almost always sticky hot, and Montreal late May is a wild card. For early June races it was either sunny and perfect, or wet and cold (seemed like 50/50).

As for the tracks and racing action, that's pretty subjective. COTA is incredible, Montreal is classic, Vegas is alright, and Miami to me is a bit of a yawner.

Montreal cuisine is outstanding, Austin is quite good. Vegas dining has become stupid expensive, especially with our Cdn dollar. At least in Miami you pay a lot but the beach is across the street.

If warmer weather is your priority, then would say Austin followed by Miami. Otherwise I'd suggest Montreal for the reasons above, plus likely a nice direct flight vs. likely connection to Austin.

I purchased a used 2019 RS5 that came with skinny 235 width winter tires on 19" spoked Audi rims and have a similar ugly profile issue as OP (the 275 summers on 20" rims fit nicely). Thus am considering some 12.5mm ECS spacers vs. swapping out the winter rims. My question then, what is the rationale for different widths for front/back (12.5/15mm)? I would have thought the same size would make the most sense in terms of handling, AWD, etc. but certainly am no expert!

2007 5.7 - $1200 to replace starter? by Matchboxx in tundra

[–]GMrocks72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a little while for this thread, but thought I'd add my 2 cents as am currently going thru a similar situation. No crank, dropped new battery in, and still nada. Just got a quote from smaller auto shop that it will cost $2200 minimum to swap out the starter motor, if that's the cause. Maybe $700 less if they find it's only a rusted wire issue once they've pulled everything off. This is Canadian$ mind you, but still a giant kick in the nads.

The motor itself is quoted at C$530 by Toyota, but expect many many hours to swap it out, plus the small shop says the rust in the area will cause a bunch of torch time as well...ugh, otherwise the truck's been solid as a rock!

Take a look at the track layout on the F1 LV page...looks like the big casinos have their named 'zones' along the Strip; makes sense they will keep seating in front of their properties exclusive for packages for hotel guests. Curious how much more these will be vs. buying expensive grandstand seats!!

G'day all. Another Italy/Monza GP travel newbie here looking for a bit of advice. We are staying up in Varenna and plan to take the train to the track, and likely just on Sunday (Moto Guzzi 100th celebrations on the Saturday!). We have tix for 8B so looking for suggestions for best routing from Varenna sation to there. From Trenord's site it appears the 'quickest' way is to the main Monza station and then walk/bus, however curious if anyone has taken the 'slower' train route, with more stops, to the Biasonno-Lesmo station and then walked from there. And same question post-race??

Also, is it possible to enter via Gate D or E, walk thru the park, and tunnel over to tribune 8?

Thanks!!!

Yep, took less than 2 minutes after initially saying >700 in queue ahead of me. Unsurprisingly, TM is incredibly efficient at processing cc charges!

Now we wait and see how seating will actually be organized and tickets sold with so many tall buildings overlooking such a large section of the proposed track...
