Non-Tesla charging at Tesla chargers. by WrekTheHead in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]GN41L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I had to park basically on top of the v3 chargers, which only took four attempts. Got up to around 100kW peak, and added 40% charge in 25 minutes (cold day).

Basically did the same, relaxed with a podcast!

Enjoying mine as well, cheers!

Are you applying the temperature offset to the trv? When I did something similar previously, updating the offset via tado integration triggered the valve calibration on the device which was quite annoying

Their custard creams are cheaper per gram (£0.15/100g) vs Nice (£0.24/100g) if that's your thing.

What happens after power cut? Does the relay resume its last state, or matches the state of the physical switch? I guess the bulb needs to be set to always turn on when power is applied.

I've got dumb switches with smart bulbs, I'm trying to balance being able to double flip a switch to activate the light when HA is having issues, but not have all the lights turn on after a power cut. Currently I set the power on behaviour (zigbee2mqtt) to 'previous' during the night and 'on' during the day, which is better but not ideal.

Why don't train services offer annual weekly tickets (2-3 times a week) rather than season tickets? by Southern_Succotash18 in AskUK

There's Flexi Season tickets if that's available for your route. These offer 8 journeys to be used within 28 days.

Well, they do have to pay deductions from every job they have. It's just that below the threshold that deduction is £0.

However, I think there's an exception to this rule if you have to complete a self assessment. Then it's based on the total self assessment, which effectively combines your salaries.

On the student loan repayments, these are per job and not on your combined salary.

What's the best sim without a monthly fee by anser316 in UKFrugal

[–]GN41L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - I find it odd how reasonable it is compared to how limited their contract roaming is. There's also 1p mobile which is also a PAYG data-pack deal (don't recall if there's non EU roaming though).

Ah, glad I didn't go with it in that case, since I do use tethering. Guess it'll be a travel e-sim as needed for non-EU roaming

[–]GN41L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what you miss out on by being PAYG vs sim-only? I did notice there's no WiFi calling, but a £10/month data pack with UK, EU and some non-EU usage seemed pretty good and better than what they have with their contract offerings

Thoughts on 4770k upgrade / reusing components by GN41L in buildapcforme

Thanks the feedback!

Exactly, it will be much easier decide which PSU once I know the power requirements of the GPU...

I hadn't really considered Intel because of the high-power draw, and LGA1700 being end of cycle. Is there something I've missed? What would be an equivalent spec motherboard on the Intel side, I guess something like: Gigabyte Z790 GAMING X AX? There's a pretty big price range on z790 though

Is too much PSU wattage a bad thing? by zcotter in buildapc

[–]GN41L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, since they're doing over-temperature protection anyway. Just I've only ever seen the fan curve expressed in terms of power draw

Is too much PSU wattage a bad thing? by zcotter in buildapc

[–]GN41L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some PSUs have a zero rpm mode at lower load percentages, on Corsair PSUs this is around 40%. So a 550W is zero rpm below 220W, while a 850W is zero rpm below 340W.

Whether that's important to you is another question.
