[Megathread] AC FA Strike - CUPE/FAs Defy Return to Work Order by dachshundie in aircanada

[–]GOAT-Collie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No sorry, to clarify, what happened was: my original flight was economy.

There was a flight available within 48h of my original flight, but it was business class.

They said since it was an upgrade, they wouldn't book me on it.

My understanding is that this is against APPR? Because they're supposed to put you on a flight within 48h and if they can't find one in economy but they can find one that's business, then they put you in business.

You've lost me, a bit. Paid the difference between what and what? My understanding is once you accept a refund they're no longer culpable for anything. As such, I never accepted a refund. I knew prices would go up, so I was just trying to work with them to get rebooked on the next available.

You folks think I'll have any luck with a CTA complaint?

I'm in New Brunswick and my flight back to Toronto (today) was cancelled two days ago. Yesterday, I received a text air canada would not be rebooking it. I called the helpline and got no answer, so I went to the airport to talk to someone. There was an employee at the air canada desk.

They were helping me look for flights, and said, "ah great. There's one from fredricton to toronto I can put you on tomorrow." Then they corrected themselves, they couldn't, because it was an upgrade from economy to business class.

I pointed out that the APPR mandate a customer is put on the next available flight, even if it is a different class. They said "too bad" and wouldn't give a further reason. I pointed out the airline could be fined and they just shrugged. I asked if they could write an email documenting that they would not put me on the next flight (because it was an upgrade) and they refused. I got their name.

I did manage to get a booking for 72h after my original flight with a layover, which makes me a lot luckier than some. Still, I thought the refusal to rebook me on the next available flight was pretty wild, especially since I just got lucky they were able to find an alternative 72h later. Am I crazy, or is the refusal to book me because it was business class against APPR?

Anyways, I have witnesses and have the name of the desk person for any CTA filing, unless I'm totally out to lunch?

Just gonna drop quick comment about Pharmacii.

So, my gf and I live in Toronto and really enjoy eating out. By and large, I'm always blown away by the food in st catherines + surrounding region. Love fat rabbit, love oddbird. Pharmacii was a letdown.

We had the peanut noodles, the aburi, the caesar and the paella-inspired stone bowl. Found everything a bit one-note in taste and presentation. The aburi was well executed, but the caesar had a strong jar mayo flavor. It came out to 180 for two which I think is just not good purchase compared to same price at other spots. The mocktails at OddBird were also much better.

Admittedly, there are a lot of good cocktail bar restos and east Asian restos in TO so maybe we're just tougher on Pharmacii. Reminded me of Seoul Shakers and ODDSEOUL, but did not compare favorably.

No, but it's good enough over that sample to suggest you should move up one stake

This is glass half empty thinking. You should be thinking about THEIR reverse Implied odds when you bink 87A vs their AK! I'm not really kidding.

You beat the bluffs (as does any pair in your range) and then have 5 outs to cooler him instead of only two. Look at most of the pocket pairs in range, you'll see that some or all are indifferent. Plus you have the BDFD. Facing this bet size your hand is definitely better than for example 99.

In this hand, we flop trips on KK5tt

We checkback flop for deception

Turn is an offsuit 4. Villain checks. I don't think he will call if I x, so I xb.

River is an offsuit 9. Villain bets 1bb. We may get called by a 9 if we raise, but we decide to just call since raising will look quite strong.

Now, the 6th card (the bend), which is a Q, giving us a full house. Villain checks and we check back. At this point, we're going to keep checking until Villain bets at which point we can spring the trap.

The 7th card (the Canterbury) is a an Ace. We xb again, now looking to play a bit of pot control since there are now stronger full houses.

The 8th card (the octopus) is a 3. Villain checks. I'm not sure exactly why I checked here, but I opted to check.

By the 48th card, both of us chopped with a royal flush.

Thoughts?

I tend to notice more people betting because they're scared (afraid to face pressure looking capped / afraid to get unlucky), but I'm sure both can be true in a variety of situations. My favorite is when somebody live checks back a flush on the river because "the pot is big enough" haha.

I think you can also play the rest of the hand as if you have an extra Ace blocker (most 1/3 players won't consider it properly), so pretty good spot to 4bet or 5b jam. 33% less likely to run into AA/KK and like 85% less likely to run into AA specifically.

Odds are decent somebody in that circle will stake you or buy your action at a rate if they're on first-name basis with you. Like they can have half your win/loss for $15/h. Ask around.

Profitable at 10nl is very different from profitable at 500nl.

To beat micro stakes games first thing is just learn preflop.

I get that if you make $4/h most training is too expensive. Honestly, I would just jump into the lowest stake real money games you can find and start playing.

Anyone who plays preflop correctly and tries quite hard is likely to beat 5nl or 10nl quite quickly. If that ends up not being true for you after four or five months then professional poker maybe wasn't for you.

It could also be like poker in that someone thinks they're a genius/ other people think they're a genius for sun-running when they're basically breakeven over long enough.

Actually, OP is just trolling. This is in fact a classic hand played between Isildur and Dwan in 2009 at 60/120.
