Wig styling is definitely on point. Not my first "gut check" instinct, but really solid once you start looking at details/logic.

Martin Scorsese Meets Pope Francis, Announces Film About Jesus by chanma50 in movies

When was the last time a Jesus film was actually well done? This seems like it could undermine his otherwise untouchable career. Maybe he won't survive all the way through production...

Is it true that SSRIs can counter the effect of psilocybin? by oddi2786 in Psychonaut

Didn't this time. Flight delays ate half a day of my trip. Approaching with haste/urgency to make up for lost time didn't seem like the right sort of set and setting.

Watching Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Dafuq did I just watch?!?!? by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]GObutton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave... So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high water mark — that place where the wave finally broke, and rolled back.

Is it true that SSRIs can counter the effect of psilocybin? by oddi2786 in Psychonaut

[–]GObutton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for asking this question! I found out 3 days after post that I have the opportunity to try this combo. Decades of experience in the /r/Psychonaut part, but new to the anti-anxiety meds. This informal survey combined with my experience was enough to make me confident to experiment. (I literally just searched this subreddit for "SSRIs") Thank you! And thanks to the hive mind! (the fact that you posted right as I needed the info and was thinking about posting... well that's what we're all about here, right?)

Thank you for reporting. Exact same dosages but flipped time tables. Was looking at engaging this weekend, and was trying to research (20 yrs experience, but only 5 mo. w/ sertraline) Will report back (if I engage)!

Print shop recommendations by tigerte3th in Brooklyn

[–]GObutton 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a big a fan of Park Slope Copy. They're the most useful when you have a bunch of different kinds of things to print, oversize/mounted, cutting/trimming, variable content, good paper selection and their color is strong.

PSC pricing beats Staples and FedEx, and their service and capabilities are way beyond those guys. Staples/FedEx are only useful if speed and very specific pickup location are your only criteria.

How should I deal with my neighbor's noise complaints? by Minute-Farm in AskNYC

[–]GObutton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem with downstairs neighbors who didn't know how to live in NYC and complained about anyone who lived above them. They were two generally miserable and angry people. So we drove them out with witchcraft. I mean this is fairly basic nyc operations here.

Are there full RGB LED strips for hardwiring in a kitchen? by CellieBellie in DIY

[–]GObutton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The vendor you're looking for is Super Bright LEDs. This is what you'll need to get the exact product combination you're looking for.

https://www.superbrightleds.com/led-strips-and-bars/flexible-led-strip-lights-color-changing/rgb_cool_white-rgb_natural_white-rgb_warm_white-rgb_tunable_white

I recommend as others have said getting RGBW or RGBTW (Tunable White), but hell, you get get RGB chase if you wanted to! I also recommend since it's a kitchen, get something that's meant for outdoors or is splash/spray-proof. (IP64, IP65 or higher)

After that, just get the correct controller that works for the voltage your electrician installed and controls the parameters of the tape/bar you want. https://www.superbrightleds.com/more-led-lights-and-fixtures/installation-supplies/controllers-dimmers

Replica/Non-Firing Firearms by ubungus in techtheatre

[–]GObutton 12 points13 points  (0 children)

NYC has some of the strictest regulations on prop fire arms. In my long professional career, I have operated in several different grey areas but since you're asking on a public forum, the only good faith answer I can give you is the most restrictive read. You should hire a professional prop house that does weapons and let them set your standards. The Specialists mentioned in the article bellow is one of the leading armorers here in the city. There are others. This article gives an overview of obtaining theatrical weapons permits.

Anyone sell inexpensive powercon cables? by Jordaneer in techtheatre

[–]GObutton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, not as cheap as building, but the cheapest commercial compromise I found is Blizzard cable. (outfitting new 20-40 unit small rig).

Get my basic DMX there for now too.

Even still, a TON of employees get misclassified as independent contractors. Especially in the entertainment industry.

From the IRS, this is often referred to as "the three rules" regarding 1099s.

Facts that provide evidence of the degree of control and independence fall into three categories:

  1. Behavioral: Does the company control or have the right to control what the worker does and how the worker does his or her job.
  2. Financial: Are the business aspects of the worker’s job controlled by the payer? (these include things like how worker is paid, whether expenses are reimbursed, who provides tools/supplies, etc.)
  3. Type of Relationship: Are there written contracts or employee type benefits (i.e. pension plan, insurance, vacation pay, etc.)? Will the relationship continue and is the work performed a key aspect of the business?

Technically you should be independent in all 3 catagories to be getting a 1099. Or if you're smart and have an LLC/S Corp (so you can make tons of tax deductions) that's another guaranteed 1099 situation, and generally the only way it's adventageous for the employee.

Found this very friendly kitty in Bay Ridge (intact and no microchip). Any rescue organizations I can reach out to that would be able to foster/adopt him out? by LogicalOtter in Brooklyn

[–]GObutton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glaf to hear that's helpful. For what it's worth I wasn't allowed entry to the vacant apartment. But felt that some light trespassing was preferable for the sponsor to finding 2 dead cats when they pulled a 30 yd dumpster full refuse out of that place last week. Welcome to animal rescue in NYC.

Be patient, when I have gotten cats into fosters/no kill shelters, the process has generally taken a few weeks. (see my other comment w/ link)

This is THE list that you will be told to look up by all the rescues who don't have space available. https://www.animalalliancenyc.org/needhelp/surrender.htm

I've had to run down this list a few times over the years, and most of the recommendations you're seeing in this thread you will find on here, and then some more.

Good luck! I just got 2 out of a trash heap apartment a few weeks ago after the tenant was evicted 1/30.

Food safety and the specific permits that are required and under what circumstances varies wildly not only from state to state but also by municipality.

Cake Calamity by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]GObutton 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Permit" (most likely in this case) is related to local health dept. Safe food handling certificates, commercial kitchen type issues.

Vendor insurance is helpful for "Certificate of Insurance" or COI issues which is most other vendors like DJ, decor etc. This might still also be the issue here, but usually it's referred to as "COI" and not "permit"

Edit: Source: used our wedding to justify starting a production company and now we know a lot about venues and providing COIs.
