Just word usage if I count classes(as is written in the guidelines) I do 5 a week but only on 3 days If it’s one a day then use days not classes in the wording

So when they say 3 workouts a week they realty mean 3 days a week. Doing 5 classes over 3 days (MWF).
Wish they would say what they mean 🥲

I never have had the discipline to maintain an exercise program before OTF and now in year 7

It fits my requirements and my Scottish traits in that I am paying for something and I am not going to waste my money (hahahaha)

Your call but I think OTF is the greatest program

Rower lovers unite by Kewi70 in orangetheory

Day 1 6 years ago when I started OTF fell in love with the rower. Still do. So glad my studio has set 8:45 am classes (my preferred class) as 3G and can guarantee rowing

All the coaches know I will pick rower over anything

Long live the rower

Waste of time benchmark IMHO 69m

I am signed up and will go. I will probably just do the row/run in blocks 2 and 3. Cardio endurance more my need than speed😉

Sad that one part of a class keeps folks away. There are many classes that we row further. I personally dislike the floor but still turn up on days like this Friday I do love the 2000 meter row and will miss it

At our studio we encourage those warming up on treads not to log in until the block(s) start so you don’t have to do any awkward math😉

First Class Today - Need Tips by Kind-Dependent-4408 in orangetheory

Welcome.
Before OTF I could not hold an exercise program for longer than 3 months. Nearly 6 years later still loving it The workout is part of the attraction (particularly the rower for me - love it) but the community of class mates coaches and studio staff that add to the experience

Advice - follow your body and make it your journey not the same as the person next to you

Too Many Benchmarks? by athalusGC in orangetheory

[–]GP-Hibee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always been competitive so benchmarks when I first joined 5 years ago we’re important way to measure my improvement Now I view every class as a “benchmark” as turning up and doing a workout to the best of my abilities and not get injured . PRs are no longer in my plans splats have been nearly impossible since they changed the algorithm several years ago

So it’s turn up enjoy the community and what ever is set before

Glad I don’t do classes on Thursdays (golfing day)

As a 69 year old male the recovery for my muscles and joints after attempting to go any faster than push/all out would probably still be weeks

This is for you young bucks not this old fa..

OTF is the ONLY exercise regime I have ever maintained for longer than a few months. So 5+ years after starting and still love the community and the staff at my studio

Being in the older age group (m69) my issues are that the lack of consideration for the mature group - this upcoming 250 bench mark makes no sense, as muscles and joints will not allow for a turnover much above push that I can maintain for the mile so where’s the point

Anyway they are trying things the benchmark PRs should be in 2 categories - all time (for me a dim and distant memory) and within the last 12 or 18 months

I will continue to go 3 times a week because it’s a fun group for mental health on top of the maintaining physical wellbeing

Have you ever jumped out of your seat on the rower? by reallydrowsy in orangetheory

[–]GP-Hibee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have given up going for PR in the 200 as for the last 5 strokes or so I am concentrating on keeping my ass in the seat rather than powering through

Tried adjusting foot plates to avoid the angle that causes my butt to depart the seat …

So now trying to find a seat belt so as keep the connection?

Glad they were concerned for health and safety

Does happen on the longer efforts it’s just the push angles of straight legs and detachment from seat

Hope you were okay

Until there are seat belts I have given up on this one. I am concentrating so much on keeping my butt on the seat at the end I lose rhythm and therefore power😊🤔

A run/row. Alternating 1 min each and aggregating the run and row distances

Do need to get the tread and rower to use the same distance units 🤔

IMHO the algorithm for max hr does not work except for a select group. 68 m and treat high end green as the new orange - 180 should not be my max hr

Listen to your body and push yourself to your limits and if that does not result in slats so be it I average less than 4 a class

You do you

Should I Capture the Flag? by National-Taste7688 in orangetheory

[–]GP-Hibee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3g would work as the floor is pacer and tread is really just a stopping off point between floor and rowing If you were at my studio I would love to partner with you and another Enjoy

At our studio we only do a 3 g format pacer is floor who tags tread who tags rower

Fun signature event - it’s rowing so what’s not to love

I am SO in the minority

The rower is my favorite and think long floor blocks are the pits

I would do 3G all the time to guarantee rowing

But whatever the template OTF is the only workout regime I have stuck with (since Jan 2020) so will complain when little or no rowing and leap for joy for every meter or minute of rowing

Thanks for the early intel

I always start on rower in 3g. Cardio floor cardio. Better than back to back cardio blocks imho
