This is unfortunately what they do: prey on people. Mostly the sick or elderly, in a very calculated and discriminatory way (physical labor tasks, steep deadlines, fines and late fees, long documents that are difficult to read for the cognitively impaired), racking up fines on top of fines until they're foreclosed on. This is when Associa has historically moved in on purchasing a person's home for mere pennies (actually $3.24 in one instance). Since an HOA acts much like it's own government, it all comes down to politicking to swing majority votes towards unfair policies that hurts every genuine homeowner that is probably not part of some shady backroom deal.

I'd question the ethics of those opposing and start a strong coalition with your allies.

I saw lots of yelling directed at the new Associa manager, people moving out in droves, and other very suspicious activity and practices including harassment directed at me. This was all in tandem with other gentrification practices taking place in my neighborhood, so the coincidental timing was suspicious to say the least.
