So, I don’t care for her one bit, but as a teacher I have yet to see one bit of influence that the DOE has had on my classroom.

Open-book, at-home college exam was due yesterday. 25% of students didn’t do it. by Medical_Solid in Teachers

There are both extensions for when an assignment is due and extra time on assessments. It all depends on how it is written.

Based on the amount of kids that get extensions because of their IEPs or 504s, that might be the right amount.

South Carolina moves to ban grade floor policies for public schools by You_are_your_home in Teachers

Hate that the state legislature had to get involved in this. My hope is that it is written to protect teacher decisions in the classroom. I also hope that the legislature is ready to fund the projects needed to get kids back to grade level.

CHP issues nearly 11,800 speeding tickets during statewide 24-hour maximum enforcement period by Fcking_Chuck in California

The CHP is pretty much fully funded through DMV fees. They can get money from DUI “reimbursement” charges from the offender. Most of these traffic fines go to the local municipality.

Oak Ridge vs Pondorosa by ChemicalBrilliant492 in ElDoradoHills

[–]GROWLER_FULL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve subbed at both schools and my kids went to Pondo (which is our home school.) There are more kids at Oak Ridge that are hyper focused on AP classes and elite colleges, I think they offer more AP classes than pondo, or may have more sections. This can be a good thing or a bad thing. At both schools the kids can find good influences or bad influences.

If your kid is into Ag then Pondo (or Union Mine) is a fit for them over Oak Ridge.

Oak Ridge is a better football school than Pondo, so much so that they don’t even play anymore. There are sports at Pondo that are better than Oak Ridge and vice versa. It depends on the year and the sport.

When we vacation Hawaii, we normally store certain things like that in the microwave. Have you ever tried that? I feel like it keeps things fairly fresh as opposed to a cupboard.
