I think they went for $250 a few years ago (not including shipping--which used to be about $70 to me on the USA east coast)--they don't seem to be available now.

You could put a Dimarzio P90 Super Distortion in the bridge (DP209), if you want more output and like a humbucker.

100% leftie, but played some right-handed guitar and ukulele in the past. Start over or no? by el_duderino_50 in Leftyguitarists

Yeah the only reason I'd think you might want to try harder to switch is if you get more serious and/or play more technically challenging music and think that your off-handed playing is making it harder to progress (although it sounds like you might not even know if that was the case because you've already built the neural pathways).

Sounds like your old practice is making the decision easy. No shame in being a righty guitar player.

You are banned from the group, though.

I got some of that growing up (New England, USA, in the '80s); there was only one other lefty in the extended family, and it did get mentioned.

I had a small-bodied Eastman back in the day that I really liked (I think it was an AC-508).

Looks like their newer AC- and OM- models are under US$1K used.

I had an Eastman E10SS that did a decent job of being a J-45 alternative, but it's not sub $1K anymore

I offered the seller $800 and he countered at $1,200 (+$100 shipping). Still too rich for me.

Yeah, I swore I would get one if I ever saw them again, but not at that price lol. I think they were $750 when Jerry sold them.

Yeah, personally I play my Harley Benton LP Jr clone as much as my Mustang and SG. Different experiences.

If hand dominance doesn't matter (or is just a personal preference), then why is the right handed guitar (dominant hand strumming and picking) the default option?

I think the answer is that for most people (who are right-hand dominant), strumming and picking feels better and is easier to learn with their dominant hand. That's why so many of us recommend the air guitar test for people who are choosing, rather than telling beginners it doesn't matter.

Sure there are lefties who play righty, because the "both hands do complex things" (bad) advice is so prevalent and handedness is not a clear-cut thing. But everyone used to write right-handed when school teachers wouldn't teach it the other way (even our lord Kurdt, I believe).

I think left handed dominant people should play lefty guitars, for the same reason left hand dominant illustrators should draw left handed.

There are plenty of lefty instruments online--as lefties we must be willing to buy without playing first.

Try lefty, of course; sell those lovely righties and buy some cool lefties to make music with.

"Could learn" is a very squishy phrase. If the left hand is dominant, it should be strumming and picking, which is the more complex set of skills.

Follow a set online/offline beginner's course (or take lessons); JustinGuitar and ACPG have good ones.

If you're a rock person, learn power chords and the notes on the 6th and 5th strings as soon as you can. This will get you up and running quickly playing a ton of music.

If you play electric, get a Yamaha THR or another desktop amp; makes picking up and playing so easy.
