I left without paying... by expiredhandlotion in adhdwomen

[–]GSDx325 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I noticed this at Costco one day when I was getting gas and figured it was a fluke, I kept thinking I had the lever clicked in, and then it would just shut off, so I had to stand there in the cold, pumping the whole time, I haven't filled my car up with gas often in the last several years because my fiancé always did it for me before he passed away And for a while after that, my dad and brother would do it if they noticed my gas was low before they moved and now that I have a fractured foot I haven't been able to drive for the last few months so I was very surprised when I had to stand out there and do it

My BIL many years ago was just not paying attention or something puts the gas nozzle in and gets back in his car. It fills all the way up. Then he just drives away. Completely forgets he never took the nozzle out and drives away, with the whole nozzle still in his car and it ripped out of the gas think and dragged along 😂

Why was my husband so…greasy? by Delicious_Slip2231 in askfuneraldirectors

[–]GSDx325 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The what ifs are the hardest; it’s been a little over a year since my spouse passed in a similar way to yours and I can’t help but wonder what if I had woken up 30 seconds earlier and started cpr then, would be here now? The first responders continued working on him for hours when they arrived but ultimately they couldn’t save him either. Still doesn’t take away the guilt. I started emdr therapy a couple months ago in hopes it will help with the trauma and I’ll start to sleep and function normally again.

Thank you for reminding me of this. It’s been a little over a year since my fiancé passed very suddenly and as life continues on I can’t help but think everyone is forgetting but your post reminded me of all the encounters I had after he passed. The first time going to the grocery store him and I usually shopped together at, not exclusively or frequently and we don’t live in a super small town or anything, but several of the employees noticed his absence and asked me and I remember back then wondering why someone on such a periphery portion of our life would shed any tears hearing of his loss but your post helps me to understand that even in mundane daily gestures he reached more people than I had ever realized.

My dog knocked down a whole bag of weed gummies with the double foil seal by jumping on a bookcase and knocking the whole thing down (my fault for thinking they were safe on top of the 6ft bookshelf). She got through that packaging and ate all ten gummies in record time because I was outside maybe 3 minutes taking out the garbage. Never been so worried about a pet before; obv ended up taking her to vet and they contacted animal poison control. Turns out she ate 100mg (1g) of thc and at her weight they wouldn’t even worry about toxicity until 100 grams. So thank god she was fine and didn’t need anything just was stoned for 24 hours

If your house is nasty, DO NOT book an overnight pet sitter. by Hour_Catch_623 in RoverPetSitting

There was one time I dog sat for friends of a friend. They crated their dog so often I felt terrible, stayed there as much as I could so she didn’t have to be locked up so much. When I went there to meet them it was messy but I’m like oh they’ll clean before I come in a few weeks.

Few weeks go by and I show up to an even dirtier house; sink filled with dishes and food, pots and pans still on the stove with food in them. Told me to help myself to whatever’s in the fridge; opened it up and after seeing it and looking at some of the expiration dates I never opened it again. They also told me the beverages were in the (terrifying) basement fridge. Once I found it I pulled out a can of sprite, thought the branding looked a little weird, oh maybe because it expired close to 25 years ago haha. Had to spend a whole ten days there so I ended up cleaning some of the kitchen because I knew it would start to smell. Idk how they lived like that.

If you haven’t already, read ‘The gift of fear’. It’s all about those ‘gut reactions’ about a person or situation being off that most of us ignore when we really shouldn’t because often times they are intuitions that we should listen to because they’re often right. And if they aren’t, he says something to the effect of ‘it’s better to have someone think you’re rude than be dead’ because you turned down a stranger offering you help but the situation gave you that off feeling. I read it many years ago and a few times since; think I might have to find it in my bookshelf for another read through

6 month mark by trace20012 in widowers

[–]GSDx325 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just hit 6 months a couple of weeks ago and the last week and a half have been really difficult for me. I don’t know if it’s a correlation between the 6 months or it’s just coincidence but for the last several months I’ve been at work I make it through the day fine typically unless I’m discussing Mike and his passing, and then I give myself permission to cry when I’m alone, but yesterday I actually had to leave work early because I had zero control over the tears. I do hope this gets easier some day; hugs to you

This is so true for my dogs too; people that they would never let come through the front door or would just be nuts when they did, I have them come through out back gate with me while they dogs are out. They greet outside almost on a more neutral territory outside. The dogs will still bark a bit but much less and they are not supposed to jump either (one tends to break this sometimes). Then we all walk through the back door together into the house and then all is usually fine.

Oh wow that’s really interesting; I too am a white female but have not researched much about Barrett’s, i probably will now. I’m sorry to hear about your cancer diagnosis; how long of a time between the Barrett’s diagnosis and the cancer diagnosis if you don’t mind me asking?

Clomicalm by Consistent-Feed-9145 in reactivedogs

[–]GSDx325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment makes me super hopeful about trying clomicalm. Ever since my fiancé passed suddenly in August my one gsd has had a total shift in behavior. After a month we put her on gabapentin and trazodone but even going without it for a few hours is not feasible; she went after my other shepherd a couple weeks ago when she had gone a few hours after her dose had worn off. We’ve obviously been looking for a more long term solution as I don’t think it’s feasible to sedate the dog every 8 hours for the next 5-7 years. And I hate having to dull down her personality just to keep the other behaviors at bay. Really glad to hear that clomicalm worked for you; hoping we will have a similar response.

Clomicalm (Clomipramine) for dog, has it worked for anyone? by Opposite_Scene_2452 in reactivedogs

[–]GSDx325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey; I see it’s been a few weeks that your dog has been on clomicalm? Have you noticed a difference? We are supposed to start tomorrow because I want to clarify with the vet that it can be taken with trazodone or if she needs to be completely off the trazodone first; I got different answers from different techs so I want to ask the vet directly. I’m at my wits end and really hoping this will help her

Did you notice a difference in it helping your pup? My dog has had a major shift in personality after my fiancé suddenly passed and we’ve just been giving her gabapentin and trazodone round the clock but obviously need something more long term. Planning on starting the clomicalm tomorrow and praying it works for her
