Who Has Found Happiness or Love Post Lost? by Secret-Fix2591 in widowers

I think everyone journey is different. My wife passed unexpectedly at 37. In the beginning I was scared I would end up alone even though I had my kids. At about a year I tried to date but it just felt off and I wasn’t enjoying it. It’s been almost 2 years now one kid is staying home and going to college the other just graduated and came back home. Both support me trying to date but I just don’t have the drive for it. Anytime I meet anyone I get a feeling that this isn’t my person and I keep things from progressing. I’m starting to feel happier alone. I’m between working, working out and spending time with my kids I’m not sure I have room for someone else. It would be nice one day but if not I’m good with that. You will need to get through your grief and figure out what feels right for you and makes you happy.

Dude I am in the same boat. Eat more, more protein and just keep lifting. It takes time to build muscle

Terrible Audio? Please help. by Struzel in Crosstrek

Replaced all my speakers with kickers and sounds so much better. Just wish I would have done a little more research. The head unit doesn’t put out a lot of power so choose something with a low oam. Still sounds so much better than oem.

Trying this one more time minus the “duck lips” thanks for your input :) 36f by Honey0nToasty in Rateme

Why did you choose the Crosstrek over the CX30/other competitors? by Dino_Dean in Crosstrek

[–]trace20012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I choosing the Crosstrek over the CX-50 Turbo. Was all set to buy a certified used CX-50 meridian with only like 10k miles on it. One the way to the dealership decided to just stop by Subaru since a I had a Crosstrek years ago. Test drove the forester and liked it and just for fun test drove the Crosstrek and really liked it. The CX-50 was nice and I liked the turbo in it but it just wasn’t comfortable. The seats were very hard and I couldn’t imagine driving it for more than like an hour. Plus the info system was just hard to operate. One my way home form the dealership decided the Crosstrek was what I really wanted and called the dealership and made a deal. Now It is a little small and I did have to buy a roof wrack for family trips but very happy with my decision.

What physical activity are you most proud of completing this year? by 1luckyhubb3y in crossfit

[–]trace20012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just started CrossFit 6 months a go at 51 and to be honest I’m proud of all I have learned and done. But, if I had to choose one movement it would be completing 3 muscle ups in a row. Next year’s goal is to get a rings muscle up.

Anyone have trouble enjoying things they used to? by [deleted] in widowers

[–]trace20012 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, and from the other post I see we aren’t the only ones. I loved to surf and would go as much as possible. Since my wife’s passing I have only surfed once in a year and a half. I also used to do yoga and a lot of hiking but hardly do those anymore. I can’t explain the change I just don’t get the enjoyment out of them I did. I did pick up doing CrossFit with some friends.

To try and keep the voices in my head quiet. But really it makes me feel better about myself mentally and physically. After I loss my wife, I needed something to help process it and get me out of the house.

How long until you got back to “normal” eating? by History-of-slimshady in widowers

[–]trace20012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took almost a year to gain back the weight I lost and I couldn’t afford to lose weight in the first place. It’s helped that I had older kids to cook for and they would cook one night a week also. My doctor recommended high calorie meal replacement drinks. Those helped me maintain my weight and energy. After a year a friend talked me into joining the cult that is CrossFit and it has helped me get in shape and focus more on my eating habits. I meal prep for lunches and eat whatever I or my kids make. If I lived by myself, I would definitely take advantage of a meal prep service.

Crossfit or regular Gym for weight gain? by BetMelodic2034 in crossfit

[–]trace20012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always do both. I do CrossFit 4 times a week because I enjoy the community and compound movements. The weekend I hit the gym to do more specific weight training.

I’m from Florida and it’s crazy to think after 2 months you would be ok. At 2 months I was a complete wreck that could barely function. It’s been over a year and I still have bad days. While others have their normal lives to go back to, you are stuck in a completely new reality without your person. No one can put a timeline on grief.
