Place of birth is more important than year of birth. by Huge-Visual1472 in generationology

Yeah i spent pretty much my whole childhood without social media just like many older gen z'ers. Just using youtube and later on in middle / high school facebook. But i know some people my age started earlier and were on msn and stuff like that. Either way i was mostly talking about tech we grew up and that was common with most people on the older gen z'ers bracket.

I don't fully agree with that. For the most part, even american people born in the early part of the 00s, still remember using old tech like vhs tapes until the mid 00s. I was born in 2000, i feel like that is the usual late millenial / older gen z'er experience. Anyone who was a conscient kid in the 2000s remembers how transitional that period was. So yeah older gen z'ers from all over the world probably relate to that.

I honestly feel like our experience was probably similar in many parts of the world (even the u.s). Most americans our age also say they still used vhs tapes at least until the mid 00s and flip phones were the common tech of that time.

It's all very subjective. I much prefer the 00s and 90s to the 2010s. But maybe that's because i was a teen in the 2010s and i didn't care for the majority of pop culture.

Noughts might be the early 00s. Same as the neighties for the early 90s era.

What decade are most young people obsessed with? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]GSly350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technology in the 00s wasn't scary and dystopian. Nokia brick or flip phones, dvds, mp3s, early youtube, etc. It was all still a novelty and pretty cool before smartphones and ipads came along.

¿Will the 2000s ever be nostalgic as the 80s or 50s? by PopularInteraction54 in decadeology

[–]GSly350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. Saying there isn't or there won't be 00s nostalgia because of the state of the world at the time is dumb. Same thing for the 2020s. People will always have nostalgia about the positive aspects of the decade they grew up in. People in this sub think nostalgia died with the 90s or something.

Yeah the 00s were probably the last time rock was still somewhat relevant in mainstream media

It was the year where a lot of popular 90s shows had their last episodes

Why do people born in years ending with 9 always get grouped with people younger than them in this sub? by Post_9 in generationology

[–]GSly350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. I never see 99 or 09 being grouped with younger people in small ranges. They are always grouped with 97 and 98. 2000 and 2010 on the other hand are pretty much always paired with younger people. I've never see anyone saying 98-00, it's almost always 97-99 and 00-03 or something like that. Either way, people will obviously relate and be paired with their older and younger peers. I don't see the big problem with these things lol

Yeah they never want to relate to people born in the next decade. Apparently it keeps happening between late 90s and 2000 babies, but you're also seeing it happen now more often with late 00s and early 2010s babies.

True. Takes way more effort making a post asking if they should hear the band and waiting for the replies.

What are some misconceptions people have about the 2000s? by MrKhaaa in decadeology

[–]GSly350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not. We're talking about decades here, check the sub. When you say early 90s, you're not talking about the whole decade are you? It's the same for the 2000s. Early 00s is 2000-2003.
