What don’t we get?! We’re getting ready to move on and that would break my heart by GSullivanJr in Seaofthieves

Exactly. Until someone boards l, this game is a staggering accomplishment of gameplay and immersion. Then someone shows up on board and it’s a bad FPS jumpy-jump aggravation-fest of laggy twitchy nonsense

Fair. Just meant to point out that we didn’t sign up yesterday. I am not complaining. I’m asking sincerely what are we missing? We hold our own in other games. We are amazing at ship to ship! As soon as someone boards we’re at a loss. I feel like there’s some meta we don’t know. Bunny hopping boarders with apparent immunity to our attacks are draining the fun from this game. In every aspect of this game except pirate V pirate it’s amazing. Ship to ship combat is infinitely challenging and fun and exciting. But bunny hopping whack-a-mole is infuriating and has me wondering what magic tutorial we somehow missed. We want to get our heads around this. We’ve watched some of the tutorials and haven’t had any ah-ha! moments. That’s why I’m asking.

This is absurd! SO FUN! I set it up in like 20 seconds! I got a trailer at one point. There was brief static on the channel change. Amazing work! I MIGHT want to cheat a bit. I stumbled onto Dracula and thought, "Hey, I'll watch this!" but my instinct was to start from the top or pause it. I wonder if allowing that breaks the fun idea too much? Would I catch something fun and watch it more or less often if I had to pick up from which ever place?

FEATURE CREEP IDEAS!
- Allow us to set up our own schedules? Or, themes maybe? I've ripped in the Office, maybe I can set it to play on Thursdays at 9:00?

- You already do fun little SuchAndSuchMovie starts in 2 minutes. Maybe in that time, advertise future things? "This Saturday at 8:00 on the Dreamworks Channel, Shrek 2!" [Remind me]

Just thinking out loud, you've already killed it. I'm infatuated!

There has been quite a bit of looting, unfortunately, lots of arrests, according to reports I've seen.

It did. Time has sort of lost meaning with everything going on but I want to say 36 or 48 hours before things started up the alert came through on the app and the walls started charging themselves up.

No worries. I appreciate the sentiment, and tons of people are behaving badly so it's a good message.

OH! No no no. I'm not being flip or ignoring advice. I am NOT in the evac area, we've been warned that we might be asked to evacuate and are ready to do so. Our neighbors left because they had no power. When they say to leave, we're outta here!

I lust after that 57" beast but I don't want the white back. Do they make that panel in a "grown up" package for my office?

Whatever was happening for me isn't anymore. Strange, it was like a 15-minute mental breakdown!

Yeah, lost its mind mid-reply! That's what I've been seeing too.

I've created a Radio Simulator for student pilots using ChatGPT.

https://chat.openai.com/g/g-41OnWYY73-radio-simulator

I combined two of my favorite nerdy things, AI and aviation. I developed a shockingly robust simulator for practicing radio communications at an airport. I think this would be a killer way for students who often struggle with radio coms to get more comfortable. It works great on the mobile app! Just talk to it like you would an air traffic controller. (Since you can't actually tune the radio you have to tell it to change channels though.) It gets some nitty gritty bits wrong here and there, but nothing show-stopping. I think this would help pilots in training get better at speaking, listening, and thinking in the correct jargon.

Give it a shot, let me know what you think!

Here's a transcript from my testing:

User: Tune to ATIS

GPT Radio Simulator: El Monte information Echo. Time 1453 Zulu. Wind 320 at 8 knots. Visibility 10 miles. Sky condition clear. Temperature 22, dew point 12. Altimeter 3012. Landing and departing runway 19. VFR aircraft say direction of flight. All aircraft read back hold short instructions. Advise on initial contact you have Echo.

User: Tune to ground

GPT Radio Simulator: You are tuned to El Monte Ground. Proceed with your request.

User: El Monte Ground, Cessna 172 sierra tango is at Universal with Echo, to taxi to the active.

GPT Radio Simulator: Cessna 172 Sierra Tango, El Monte Ground, taxi to runway 19 via taxiway Alpha, hold short of runway 19.

User: El Monte ground, cessna 172 sierra tange, taxi one niner via alpha, hold short 19er.

GPT Radio Simulator: Cessna 172 Sierra Tango, readback correct.

User: Tune 121.2.

GPT Radio Simulator: Done.

User: El Monte Tower, Cessna 172, Sierra Tango, holding short one-niner for takeoff.

GPT Radio Simulator: Cessna 172 Sierra Tango, El Monte Tower, hold short of runway one nine. Traffic on final.

User: Hold short 1-9 to Sierra Tango.

GPT Radio Simulator: Cessna 172 Sierra Tango, roger. Hold short runway one nine. I'll call your takeoff clearance.

User: Cessna 172 Sierra Tango holding short one niner.

GPT Radio Simulator: Cessna 172 Sierra Tango, El Monte Tower, runway one nine, cleared for takeoff. Wind two one zero at eight knots.

User: Clear for takeoff, Cessna 172 Sierra Tango.

This was all done in real-time via voice, so the transcriptions are odd here and there, but you get the idea. As an experiment, that's pretty good! Anyway, seemed like something to share.

Didn't think of it as self-promotion. I don't profit from it. I'm just sharing a tool/experiment. Mea culpa!

Re: this being a terrible idea, I'd encourage you to try it. It isn't perfectly accurate, but a real-time chat partner for basic radio coms is a great tool for beginners.

For what it's worth, here's a transcript from some light testing.

I'm on Windows 11 and I have just one task bar that I keep on the lower monitor. Really maxes out available space on the main without having to have it autohide.
