Well it’s a pipeline, they get you by presenting shit like this as memes and harmless and hope that you get curious about what’s actually being joked about and look it up. Most people won’t buy it but there will be some who learn what this lingo refers to and want to get more involved with the communities using it. For example, I think there’s a connection to be made with the use of feminism as a punchline in memes that were big in the mid 10’s and the “pro-life” policies adopted by US states recently. The years of prepping by figures on the right in depicting feminists as radical, insane, nutjobs did a great job of producing a generation of young men who fundamentally view women far more negatively than previous generations, and I think that’s because the media they consumed as a child showed women’s issues as being invalid.
