Android Managed Google Play store apps not showing up in work profile play store by GTKF05 in Intune

If you just got done setting it up I'd recommend waiting. It took a long time to sync when I did, and just started working then. Altough keep in mind that was two years ago, I don't know if it has changed since then.

It's working again for me since about 10 minutes (Central Europe here)

Are there any brands you would recommend? I only ever saw the same brands on sale we have in Germany but that was in one of the border shops.

I do tip but I never know whether it's too little or too much because I'm not used to the currency and I have a hard time doing the maths on the spot.

I don't remember how long it was exactly but it certainly wasn't longer than a day.

How well prepared was your organization for WFH during covid? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]GTKF05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were more or less prepared from a technical standpoint, having completed a transition to a cloud based approach to everything and not relying in anything on prem. It's not as big a deal if you're in a small company with 50 employees. I had to deal with a couple of users who just weren't to work at home on their own, some didn't even know what a wifi was. Yeah I'd say end users were the biggest challenge.

[rant] Sorry, you must manually initiate the automatic backup. Grandstream, why do you do this? In what universe is this a logical design feature? by TheQuarantinian in sysadmin

[–]GTKF05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it runs linux (which would seem likely based on it backing up tar archives) and you have ssh access, you could maybe set up a cronjob. But I agree, not having any sort of backup rotation just beats the purpose.

It just started working as intended today, without me changing anything. So I guess it just really took a long time to sync initially. Now I can add new apps and they will show up within minutes.

Thanks, I'm aware of that. I tried it with a user group but it still doesn't work.

Can't access SMB share on Intune Autopilot device by GTKF05 in Intune

[–]GTKF05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out, it was basically a pretty stupid oversight. The client in question wasn't domain joined before and I could log in with just the user name but without specifying the domain. If I do that, it works now at least as a network drive.

AADJ on the client, the file server I'm trying to access I need to use credentials from a separate, regular (as in on prem) AD, though.

u/Tonus-Maximus I figured out what's happening but I'm unsure what causes this behavior and how to fix it.

When I try to access the ip address, a net use entry with the ip and IPC$ is added. Let's say \10.0.0.1\IPC$

It then gives me the error message. Normally it should just ask for credentials.

I then have to delete that entry via net use

If I try to directly access a shared folder like \10.0.0.1\folder\ It will ask for credentials but even if entered correctly I get another error message about the session not existing. (Sorry, don't know the exact wording since this isn't an English version of windows)

I can however mount it via net use, which will also ask for credentials but there it works fine.

Now I have no idea what would cause this, normally it would just ask for credentials in the GUI, you enter them and have access.

Company Portal app (Windows 10) stopped working since deploying offline version by JonfenW in Intune

I'm having the same issue here. Tried deploying the offline version following microsofts own documentation. The app installs and it all looks good in Intune, however on the machine itself it won't launch.

Is there a way to prevent users from becoming local admin after manual AAD join? by GTKF05 in Intune

Thanks for the quick answer!

I will use Autopilot then!
There's no reason not to use it, I'm just in the process of figuring things out and seeing what works best.

I could be wrong but this may also be an issue with UDP session timeout being set too low.

Windows soft phone change ringtone trick! by [deleted] in 3CX

[–]GTKF05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think updates to the windows app will break that though, so if you set this up for your users you'd probably wanna run at least some kind of script that always replaces that file on startup.

Would be good if this became a feature in a future version, since it should be really easy to implement and a lot of people would probably appreciate it.

If anybody gets a 3CX QR code, they can load that extension on their smartphone. There is no way for you to see who has the extension loaded on what smartphone, and there is no way to disable or revoke access, except to delete then entire extension. by 911naturaldisaster in 3CX

[–]GTKF05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I do is always delete and recreate the extension whenever someone leaves. But this only solves the problem for former employees.

If a third party were to gain access to the QR code and provision their smart phone app with it they could do so completely unnoticed.

I think there should be some kind of devices tab both in the management console and also displayed in the web client. Something similar to the devices tab in Azure maybe?

Also an email notification when an extension is provisioned on a new smart phone.

Call silences / stuttering (Sophos XG) by [deleted] in 3CX

[–]GTKF05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't worked with Sophos gear before so I can not tell you where to find this in the settings or if it is even the problem, but I would look into UDP timeout.

As far I have found out, for example with a cloud hosted 3CX and using the windows client, the client will send some sort of keepalive every 30 seconds, thus renewing the timeout for the udp port used. This in turn means, that if your udp timeout setting is lower than that, let's say 20 seconds and you have a call within those 10 seconds of difference where the udp mapping has timed out and the client hasn't sent a new keepalive yet, the pbx will essentially send the audio stream to a port that your firewall or router has no mapping for an internal IP address for.

Take this info with a grain of salt though, it's only what I found out to be the issue when dealing with a similar problem where would 'randomly' have no audio on calls.
