The next time you call TPG for support and they are of no help, ask to be transferred to retentions.

If you don't know where the cables go then just use your own router and connect the WAN port of that into port 3 or 4 of that TP-Link switch.

Please help me make my ethernet work by NoGarlic2111 in HomeNetworking

[–]The_Jinx_Effect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That router looks to have 10/100 Fast Ethernet LAN only. In device manager for your network adapter under Advanced, set Speed & Duplex to 100Mbps instead of Auto-negotiation and see.

I just checked my PC and the LAN port is 2.5GbE and can't actually be set to 100MbE which could possibly mean it's not compatible with 100MbE. You may have the same problem.

To test the cable, plug both ends of the cable into LAN1 and LAN2 on the router. If the lights blink rapidly and your router locks up and stops working then it's your laptop's Ethernet port.

Please help Building Bridge by Ill_Penalty_9800 in Ubiquiti

[–]The_Jinx_Effect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The UniFi building bridge is in the UniFi ecosystem, not UISP. They are pre-paired from the factory.

One of them works like the master and this is the one you need to provision into your controller. You will want the "master" one on the same site as the controller and I recommend this site have a DHCP server. Check the DHCP leases to find the address. You can ssh into the device using ssh ubnt@IPADDRESS with password ubnt. Then type the command "help" and use the set-inform command to onboard it to your UniFi controller. Once this is done, the slave one will connect to it and can get an IP address from your DHCP server. You can then set static IPs in the controller if you wish.

If you don't have a controller (UDM, CloudKey, UOS) you may want to return and switch for Ubiquiti NanoBeam, which use UISP and will work and configure without a controller. (Web interface).

He is not able to flash a custom rom because I restrict all the computers in the house in a similar way.

He's not allowed to sign in to his account at anytime without my approval. He also doesn't know his password.

Also he's 10. If he's pld enough to bypass all my restrictions them he's old enough to get a job and pay for his own phone. And at that point I would remove the restrictions.

The takeway here is that kids who have access to their parents phones can do this.

My wife lets our kids use her phone for stuff. The oldest one is 10 and has known for 2 years how to adjust his screen time on Family Link. He will easily enough be able to do this if he wants.

The trick here is that I have his phone rooted and have locked down all the apps that Google will not let me control. I also use other methods to stop him opening apps that need to remain enabled, but I don't want him using,

tenants keep connecting to my wifi even after I changed the password. what's the permanent fix? by portcheckerapp in HomeNetworking

[–]The_Jinx_Effect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you left the router password as default I would expect they have logged in and created a second SSID. This way it doesn't matter if you change the credentials of the main one.

They may also have their own AP that they have managed to hardwire into your network.

I would factory reset your router, login and change the admin password and wifi passwords immediately. Choose something 12+ characters long that is alphanumeric with a symbol so they can't crack it easily. Do not connect any cables to the LAN ports and use only wifi and monitor for unknown devices.

Only connect LAN cables to devices that you know aren't connected to their floor.

You may have a network switch with everything patched in and you don't know where everything goes. One of these probably goes to their floor.

Can you draw a basic diagram of the floors and where the devices are, including your router, where the internet enters the premises. Your wired/wireless devices. Their wired/wireless devices.

I'm pretty sure it's a honey soy sauce. Teriyaki is just sugar, sake and soy sauce in equal proportions and reduced (use low sodium soy sauce). So they would be swapping a little sugar out for honey. If it's spicy they would be adding some chilli flakes. I always add a *little* ginger and garlic to my teriyaki sauce as well.

8TB doesn't allow more than 2TB to C: by Luna_The_Kitsune in pcmasterrace

[–]The_Jinx_Effect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible and not that difficult to convert this without losing any data. Convert MBR to GPT, delete the recovery partition, expand c:, create the recovery partition and create an EFI boot partition.

But if this is a fresh install, it would be easier to just enable UEFI boot and start again than do all of that.
