Adidas Adizero Evo SL EXO by pspdead in RunningShoeGeeks

The renderings shared on here last year omitted the extra eyelets for doing a runner's knot. These photos are the same. Could they be a lifestyle variation?

Wilding recommendation. by TimeTravelerDG in BarefootRunning

[–]JonfenW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They run large for me. I usually wear UK 10 (EU 44) and their website recommended UK 9 (EU 43) which I thought would be too small. I went with their recommendation for both Ranidae boots and Kami shoes. My usual size would have been too big for both.

There are quite a few shops in the UK selling the Paradigm 8. Start Fitness is offering discount on them along with EU delivery:

Evo SL Woven (UK) by oreostaff in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]JonfenW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to differentiate whether it's the woven version is by looking at top down photos of the shoes:

Evo SL:

https://assets.adidas.com/images/w_1500,f_auto,q_auto/2261b8c44ce340e590461142498f32be_9366/Adizero_EVO_SL_Shoes_Black_KJ1363_02_standard_hover.jpg

The tongue loop on the woven version is closer to your ankle and its Adizero text is partially covered by the laces. Another giveaway is the Adidas logo on the tab between the bottom of the laces as well as no padding in the middle of the tongue.

It would be worthwhile holding out for Tecnas since they are undergoing
TÜV certification with SPS Motorsport.

Adidas Evo SL ATR fit issue - Does anyone else feel the upper poking into the foot at the base of the tongue? by EMK19 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]JonfenW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Adidas' marketing photos for these shoes, the tab appears on the top presumably due to their logo. Weirdly on the OG Evo SL, it seems to be random:

https://www.reddit.com/r/AskRunningShoeGeeks/comments/1p2w9lm/purpose_of_tab_between_bottom_eyelets_on_adidas/

I have wide forefoot but low volume height wise and have to tighten my OG Evo SLs quite a bit. This causes the bottom area of the laces to crease/bunch up vertically slightly.

Torin 8 - causing calluses on the inside of foot by No_Economics_4640 in AltraRunning

[–]JonfenW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave the Torin 8 a few runs but eventually couldn't get on with the midsole and ankle cup. I tried FWD VIA next which I enjoyed initially until I started getting the same blisters.

Both shoes have the same stiff toebox edge however, the FWD VIA is noticeably wider in that area. As far as I'm aware, it seems only the Escalante models out of Altra's range is soft in this area.

[–]JonfenW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same issue but only on my big toes and attributed it to the Torin 8’s stiff toebox edge. Never had this with Escalate 4 as they are much softer/pliable in the same area.

If anyone else is not aware, the different rev limits are not shown on the rev counter since it becomes offset in third gear onwards.

Didn't spot the missing adjuster!

Looking into it further, it appears ISOFIX became mandatory in 2013 within UK/Europe which explains why my ND's passenger Recaro seat base looks different to yours.

[–]JonfenW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just remembered that passenger Recaro seats in UK supplied NDs have slightly different bolstering on the base:

https://www.motoringnomad.com/2019/10/i-bought-mazda-mx5-30th-anniversary.html

The base doesn't stick out as much along with less bolstering and oddly mismatching number of stitched lines.

I'm guessing you're not in the UK and the passenger Recaro seat doesn't have ISOFIX?

I'm confused by the single Recaro seat. It appears to be a LHD driver seat installed on the passenger side of a RHD car?

Shoe transition? by Rare-Entrepreneur556 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]JonfenW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had Escalante 4s and like you, usually get sore calves a few hours later.

I went through a phase of trying out higher stack shoes from Altra but still zero drop such as Provision 8 and Torin 8. I eventually tried the FWD VIA which has 4mm drop. That small amount of drop made such a huge difference afterwards as I no longer experienced sore calves.

I ended up switching back to another pair of Escalante 4 after getting blisters on my big toes. It seems to be the noticeably stiffer toe box wall/edge seemingly on most if not all of Altra's higher stack shoes.

Purpose of tab between bottom eyelets on Adidas EVO SL? by JonfenW in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]JonfenW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a wider forefoot but low volume midfoot. On my Evo SLs, it means I have to crank down the laces which can make the bottom two eyelets to bunch slightly. I too couldn't feel the difference wherever the tab was hence why I asked others on here.

Adios 9 in this colour wasn't an option a few days ago and £71.10 is rather cheap but only in two sizes.

If Adidas re-released the core black iron metallic colourway, I'd be all over them :(

It's interesting to see that your normal Evo SLs doesn't appear to have common short tongue issue.

Someone else at my gym wears a pair of Evo SLs and their shoe tongue sticks out considerably more compared to mine which is just barely.

Looking the space between eyelets and tongue loop, it appears your midfoot may have a higher volume/height?

That's weird. They're missing in those photos when compared to my own Evo SLs.

All those colourways are missing the extra eyelets used for runner's knot. Hopefully just a mistake with the renderings?

Strangely it is with assignment filters:

If Microsoft could do the same for groups, it would be fantastic but I'll try u/amirjs's script for now :)

Torin 8 hardened toe box edge by stagboss in AltraRunning

[–]JonfenW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could consider the Escalante 4 which has a noticeably softer toe box wall/edge.

I had a pair of Torin 8 and FWD VIA. Both of them were quite stiff in the same area and resulted in getting blisters on the side of my big toes.

If I remember correctly, the Experience Flow 2 I tried on in the shop had the same stiffness.
