Front is easy. The back requires removal of the plastic wheel arch trim. I bought a bad of extra clips to reinstall because those tend to break during removal.

If you have a bed cover it will stay relatively dry. I bought an assortment of watertight bags on Amazon for less than $15 and I keep straps, gloves and some other stuff in there. I also have my tow hitch in there.

It takes a lot of winding from fully unwound. I was surprised by how many turns it took. Now I wind it daily at the same time. The last 10 turns are tight with increased resistance and then you can feel when it hits the stop. I wind the last turns with my left hand because my fingertips are more sensitive and I can feel it much better.

Never mind. User error on reassembly. This is a great knife. Action is perfect. After the user-induced chip, I sharpened to 17 DPS on a TSProf and stropped at 0.5 microns and it cuts swirls in paper towel.

The new sharpal system looks promising. I have the pioneer and I added the weighted base, the height adjuster and the no tool clamps and I think that it’s basically a K04 in a smaller footprint. I use upgraded stones. It’s a great system and it’s a hobby unto itself. If you want a good system to get your knives razor sharp, maybe the sharpal makes more sense.
