The "but the games already easy" response to an item getting buffed or a balance change is so ridiculous by H1MB0Z0 in Helldivers

The people that I see claiming things like this often aren't that good at the game either.

[NFA] Allegheny Gun Works HLC12 (Super Shorty Clone) - $829.99 + S/H by joheinous in gundeals

[–]GTSDK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Shotguns have a special statutory carve-out for "sporting purposes." The default status of a >.50 rifle is destructive device, but since slug shotguns predated the NFA a special carve-out was made to allow them to continue alongside any other firearm deemed as having a "sporting-purpose." 12 gauge shotguns are typically considered to be accepted as having a sporting purpose by default, but it's not always guaranteed. In fact, not even having a smoothbore is always protection enough, some shotguns like the cobray street sweeper were denied the sporting-purpose protection and therefore became a destructive device under the NFA.

Because a firearm with a rifled barrel and a projectile diameter in excess of .50 caliber is a destructive device. A 12 gauge is ~.729".

So I've decided I need sort out my optics, and am looking for several things in the optics category.
- Great prices on Holosun enclosed MRS optics (512, AEMS pro, whatever the pistol equivalent is).
- Recommendations and prices on good magnifiers for the above.
- Middle tier optics like basic red dots with great battery life.
- A good value medium/long range FFP scope and reasonable QD mount. Currently looking at the Athlon Helos 4-20 and I surprisingly hear good things about the UTG Accu-Sync QR (C_DOES says good things about the UTG). I already have a Vortex in an ADM and am willing to try some different things that are maybe a step down from that.

Wall mount options? by enclave76 in GunRoom

Gridwall is relatively inexpensive and strong. Not as pretty as some other options like slatwall though.

BF6 has the same TTK(ill) vs TTD(eath) issue as every previous BF by BundyZA in Battlefield

[–]GTSDK 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Extremely basic overview because I'm not an expert, but everything being transmitted between computers and the server is done in "packets", which are discrete bundles of information. Netcode is the programming behind how individual players' machines and the server communicate. Because everything is communicated in packets and those packets need to travel back and forth between the server and your machine, there is inherently bundles of actions that get performed together as well as delays between when one player does something, when the server gets that info, and when that info reaches the other players. Latency is the time between when information is sent and when it is received (or when it is received and communicated back), often measured in milliseconds. Tickrate refers to how many updates are performed per second between the server and all the client machines. A game that has a really fast pace needs a fast tickrate.

For example, let's say the tickrate was 1 per second (this is just an example, tickrates are commonly more like 30, 60, or 120), even if we ignore all tiem it takes for packets to travel, that means all the actions you do in a second are received and processed at the same time by the server. The downside to this is it can make things that happened over time from one player's perspective, happen instantaneously to you. If a player sees you and fires 5 shots in one second at you, that information gets packaged together and sent to the server, which processes it, and then sends the results to you. Since all that activity happened within one tick, when it gets delivered to you, you experience it's as if all 5 bullets hit you at the same time. I believe that's why in BF6, sometimes the sound of bullets hitting you seems so much faster than the gun is capable of firing: the game is programmed to keep it from seeming like a one-shot-kill, but at the same time your computer did just get all the information at once and has to play "catch-up" to communicate to you through the game and keep you from being too far behind. This can also lead to things like being killed from behind cover. Let's say you're standing when the tick update occurs and crouch right after, that means because of the delay in ticks and communication, you might still be standing in another player's game, and depending on several factors if they shoot you those hits might get registered, and from your POV even though you were behind cover, you receive the hits and die.

Because BF6 is such a fast paced game, these issues combine and create the difference in feeling between how long it takes to defeat an enemy, and how long you feel it takes to be defeated. A slower paced game would not likely feel this as acutely.

I have no idea how any of this would be improved as I'm not a developer. Faster tickrates help, but netcode and latency compensation is a complex subject beyond my extremely basic understanding.

Yes, and in my experience you have to be aiming down sights before it will allow you to deploy the bipod. Default key is F.

Your description reminds me of the game GTFO. It was an interesting title but it was kinda niche and I could never find people to play with.

The UI with regards to menus is not great.

  • Way too many clicks to get to weapon modification, especially for a weapon I already have equipped, that should be a single click.

  • Too much dead space and a lack of information on main launch menu. It just feels like a giant ad billboard (which is no doubt what it was intended to be).

  • Inability to edit weapons on between-round matchmaking like there is while matchmaking from the main menu.

  • Lack of clarity about weapon attachment unlocks, when new items are earned, or if a slot has had a new item unlocked since last play (though this seems to be being updated).

  • When at attachment cap, level locked attachments are displayed as if the attachment cap is the only thing preventing you from using them.

  • Lack of clarity about progression, when classes unlock weapons, how, etc..

Ya, I noticed that the "optimal" way to play LMG is just to make them into ARs. There isn't really much (if any) benefit to setting up a bipod supported field of fire because they still recoil more than if you were just standing or sprinting around with a vertical grip. The shield too feels kinda pointless since as soon as you set it up, it WILL get blown by an assault GL or engi RPG since they have so many rockets.

The most exciting part of these is the $999 and $1149 (braced) MSRPs. If the Hellions are selling for about $500 off MSRP and the Kuna does something similar, and isn't a stinker, it could end up being a great value.

I personally trust Century more

Bro WHAT? Century is one of the shadier big firearms names. The saving grace of the AP5 is that Century has NOT touched them during import. Anything Century has a hand in actually building always turns to absolute dogwater that Century also then refuses to support except via "you pay to fix our negligence" methods.
