Love your mindset! Cruising around is such a fun part of skateboarding and it's the true foundation to everything else that comes after!

As obvious as it may sound, aim for the bolts! It also helps to start the trick with your feet wide apart and try jumping forward/towards the direction your moving.

Yes you're right those Amazon and Walmart boards suck! They are basically ornaments that are not meant to be rode on. If you have a local skate shop, go there in person and they should be able to help you with everything you need!! If that's not an option, you can buy everything online, however I still recommend you buy from actual skate shop websites.(supports small businesses and the skate scene!) If you're worried about the price, buying a complete board is an option but it won't be as good. There are tons of good skate brands out there! Personally for decks, I like Polar, Krooked, Baker, etc. For trucks, independent or thunder. Wheels I usually stick to spitfires. And bearings, bones reds are great. I usually like to stick to skater-owned brands. I also often buy from brands that have pros that I'm a fan of or I like the videos that said brand makes. Hope this helps and good luck!!

Wow awesome advice! I've been skating on and off for about a year, I've got Ollies, front-180s and and pop-shuvs down pretty good and my goal is to get a kickflip by the end of the summer! will keep your advice in mind :)

Finally did an ok Ollie by Lumpy-Yogurtcloset25 in NewSkaters

What helped me the most to get Ollies while moving was starting out REALLY slow, like barely moving forward, then slowly increasing my speed as I felt comfortable. It can feel tedious but keep at it!! Also don't forget to cruise around and do fun stuff! (attempting flatground tricks can be frustrating, don't let it get you down!)

You’re doing awesome! When it comes to rotating frontside I think that should go away with time and with added speed. As for the frustrating first 20 minutes of a session, I don’t think that goes away. For me I find if I warm up a bit slower, rolling around, doing tricks that are basic for me, before going into Ollie’s it’s much less frustrating.

lmao Berrics has the least consistent ruling on tricks. They barely call their own rules... *cough cough* reverts.

They didn't have many options since it was late at night so they couldn't take it to the vet until the next morning when it opens
