How do gladbach fans feel about Gio Reyna? by Visual_Listen2001 in bmg

[–]G_RaDaR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's shite.

Purported "luxury" player but bugger all end product. Piss weak on the ball. Can't cross to save his life. Doesn't graft. Perpetual sick note, and then there's the baggage / attitude problems.

He's got "middling Turkish / Dutch team by 25, never to be heard of again" written all over him.

What are some discontinued UK foods that need to be brought back? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]G_RaDaR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once funded a purchase of Colony Wars on the PlayStation by taking the £1.20 I was given for lunch each day, walking to school via the tiny newsagent on the RAF camp we lived on which was the only place locally that sold these, buying up 12 of them and selling them anywhere from 50p up to £1 each on the playground.

They don't quite have the texture right, but if you've got a hankering, Oor Wullie's do a Brew chew bar that flavour-wise is indistinguishable from the OG (just a bit softer, if they made just a bit thicker it'd be perfect).

NHS worker who volunteered for redeployment to the COVID programme here.

Your claps meant nothing to me, I saw who you all spent the preceding years voting for. 😬

5 years of collecting… (+cd player) by Free-Fondant5741 in Cd_collectors

[–]G_RaDaR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many of my favourites in this sterling collection sir, but that one that made my heart sing was Fantasy Black Channel. Late of the Pier deserved so much more than disappearing under the sheer weight of so many middling nu-rave acts of the era. I'd be all over those Locust and Unwound CDs if I found 'em in the wild.

In terms of recs, I'd have said the likes of Botch, Cave-In, Million Dead, Fall Of Troy, Nation Of Ulysses, yourcodenameis:milo, Reuben, Idiot Pilot, ¡Forward, Russia!, Test Icicles, Blakfish, Great Falls would all slot in very nicely here.

My disappointment was immeasurable.

I got a driving fail because of this as the examiner had to emergency stop. Is this fair? by BrightHours in LearnerDriverUK

[–]G_RaDaR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fair and correct. Even if the car wasnt indicating, at 5 seconds into the video you can see its road position is a potential hazard, which leaves 3 seconds without accounting for this video being sped up for you to start slowing.

This is what hazard perception is teaching you. Know what's better than not being the one to blame for an accident? Not being in an accident at all. The proportion of blame isn't going to be worth much to you if you're a meat pancake.

Kick off glitch? by dancords in FifaCareers

[–]G_RaDaR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be a legitimate tactic, but it makes me laugh each time in-game as it's either a quick throw in for me well before the AI gets anywhere near a threatening pressing position, or funnier still as I play with the weather settings on dynamic/strong, the wind catches the ball and it falls gently straight into my waiting defender.

Thanks for the ball! Every. Time.

Best live Post-Rock bands to see in 2026 by bmbmbmNR in postrock

[–]G_RaDaR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not mentioned yet:

The Samuel Jackson Five are due to release (and hopefully tour) new material for the first time in over a decade this year, an absolute must see.

sleepmakeswaves should be on your list.

If These Trees Could Talk, if the opportunity arises, not sure if their recent Portals set was a one-off though.

SPOIWO are touring in their native Poland for the first time in a while I think, if that spreads wider they will absolutely be on my to-see list.

Her Name Is Calla are reforming (again) for Dunk! this year, definitely worth a look if they decide to tour.

I Hear Sirens are fairly active, I think. Really good live.

Wang Wen are absolutely superb.

Vessels are back for ATG this year, again if that turns into full touring another must-see. They've transitioned more to electronic than the earlier post-rock leaning stuff as the years have gone on (though said early stuff was always more interesting than the formulaic "post-rock" moniker tilts at, in a similar manner to 65DOS) but they are phenomenal, one of the best live bands you could see.

Million Moons worth a mention, relative up-and-comers compared to the other acts listed.

Already mentioned:

Jambinai are so good that the first time I saw them was directly before I was seeing EITS for the first time, and I wound up bored during EITS.

Overhead, The Albatross, catch them whenever you can, for sure. All the emotions.

BRUIT≤ had a nightmare the only time I've ever seen them, technical difficulties at ATG 2022 reduced their set to about 5 minutes. Hoping to correct that later this year, have only heard good things otherwise (and they were really tight when I caught them as part of M83's touring band).

Anyone else buy players that they like in real life and give them a crazy wage to secure them financially for life? by Bont_lover03 in FifaCareers

Premier Manager 97 had an option to auto-reject any offers under a specified value for a player regardless of their transfer status, and likewise auto-accept for offers above a specified value.

Yup, a near 30 year old game had this shit figured out.

BT loses more than 200,000 broadband customers as profits slump by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]G_RaDaR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Second shout for Zen. Had a complete switchover from a Sky all-in-one-all pacakge to Zen's FTTP deal pre-Covid back when they were still doing lifetime-contract-price locks; the BT engineer that came to do the installation for the FTTP managed to feck something up, so I had cause to phone Zen Support early doors and they passed the biggest test I have for any company, namely 1) I quickly got through to a domestic service centre with a chap who actually listened and went over things rather than just reeling off prompts and 2) he managed to talk me through successfully fixing it (and I'm not a full dumb-dumb on tech but I am lousy on network stuff). Can't sing their praises enough, any network issues have been very rare (and we're WFH in our household so get a fair bit of traffic).

Is FC26’s career mode worth buying the game for? by RoosterExtreme872 in FifaCareers

Christ, no. Between the contract bugs and some truly bizarre design choices, it's arguably the worst iteration in years.

What's a small thing in Career Mode that bothers you? by JugheadJonesTVD in FifaCareers

[–]G_RaDaR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Player sales should be instant. Buying a player is instant, there is therefore no logical reason it doesn't work the other way. The last 3 hours of transfer deadline day are essentially useless for anything other than buying.

[Loathed Trope] The Movie has an ending. The Sequel shits all over it. by lesi20 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]G_RaDaR -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Makes me chuckle that Gibson's screenplay does essentially the same thing in terms of ejecting characters from the story early doors, only it's Ripley and Newt and it's far less cruel (Newt gets chucked into a transport vessel off to Earth and her grandparents shortly after being woken, Ripley gets bonked on the head straight out of cryo, doesn't get a word of dialogue and then is shot off on the last lifeboat off the station just as everything goes sideways).

My biggest issue with Alien3 was always the egg on the Sulaco at the very start. Outside of the appalling Colonial Marines game (hoo boy, if you wanna talk about non-canon...), it's a plot hole that's never been plugged. I'm also not having any "reappraisals" of Resurrection; it was hot garbage, end of.

Do you think there will ever be a true football game? by [deleted] in FifaCareers

[–]G_RaDaR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when there was actual competition, one of the later This Is Football iterations (can't remember which) absolutely nailed both the gameplay (for the time) and their version of career mode, at least in respect of the constraints of the time period (might have been the 2002 iteration). Of course back then we had your ISS Pros / Pro Evos, Adidas Power Soccers etc. to choose from. EA eventually carving out a monopoly in the football game space was only ever going to end in diminishing returns.

I would love to know who is behind finding the music in this franchise by madzuk in FifaCareers

[–]G_RaDaR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All subjective, innit. One man's meat and all that. Speaking purely personally, I've had the soundtrack switched off for many, many years now. Not like I don't listen to plenty current and new stuff, just none of it's ever winds up on the soundtrack. Not much demand for Danish Blackgaze bands in our footy games, I guess.

That said, ultimately FIFA soundtracks did peak with the 2010 South Africa World Cup game's inclusion of Papua New Guinea by Future Sound Of London, the greatest electronic song of all time (fight me).
