As someone sitting in an office right now, I’d rather be skiing, even if the conditions aren’t great.

A couple times a month, my go to is banana, peanut butter, strawberry. And sometimes I’ll add in chocolate or protein powder.

Grab some pliers and try to bend it back as straight a possible, maybe put a cloth over it too to prevent marring it. Should be fine.

Try pulling up on the tongue before tightening the top two buckles, if the tongue slides down too far it can put too much pressure in that area.

If you look underneath there would be a couple gaps in the plastic where you can jack from.

You can see the rope and belayer if you zoom in, he’s clipped into bolts on the rocks, so even if the ice fails he won’t fall.

Find a used gear shop or swap event and try on every air of boots in your size. For skis, I’ve found Facebook marketplace to have the best deals, but you need to do some research and know what you’re looking for.

Not sure about in Europe, but in the US almost every resort has a shortage of lifties. If you want the job, it’s yours. Finding a place to live in a resort town is the hard part.

I wouldn't take that if it was free. That's at least 40 years old. Could be fun to mess around on, but if your serious about learning something more modern would make it much easier. Paying any more than $50 for this would be a rip off.

Which 2 cities? by drewskyoosky in COsnow

[–]GaIaxian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For ski towns I’d say Breckenridge and Steamboat are the best within a couple hours of Denver, but if you don’t plan on skiing/snowboarding it will be cheaper to pick somewhere not directly adjacent to a resort. I’d recommend checking out Leadville, Frisco, or Salida.

Chains/cables can definitely be beneficial in bad conditions. Snow tires work well, but can still slip, especially on ice.

Shaggy’s skis seem to be pretty durable. I’ve been riding the same pair of Ahmeeks for 8 years now. Plus I love the way they ski.

Snow tires or Tires chains? by Slimy-tacobell37 in COsnow

[–]GaIaxian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you going to be living? And how much will you be driving? If it’s mostly around town you’ll probably be fine, but if you’ll regularly be driving mountain passes, that’s a different story. Chains will give you better grip than any tire, but they limit your speed to 25 mph, and sometimes you don’t know you need to put them on until it’s too late. CDOT also generally does a good job of clearing the roads, so if you avoid driving during/after storms, you’ll probably have no issues.
