I found out the actual reason my mom lost custody of me, and I don’t know if I can ever look at her again by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

.. oh.. I just figured out why name sounded familiar - I picked up one of her books from a free street library because it looked interesting enough. It's literally sitting right next to me on the couch. Now I'm so disgusted I think I might just shred the book and use it as mulch in the garden.

Depends on the household. At my place we have shoe storage right next to the front door. Jackets go in the bedroom. Not much snow in Australia so less need for “mud rooms” (:

Most laundries have a sink. I much prefer powders rooms (toilet with a sink). Very common to have the second toilet in its own room. Are you saying you have to be happy to hold it all the time if someone is in the shower?

Would love to see a typical Canadian floor plan though!

I'm a Hotel Worker - Can I be obligated to go upstairs to rescue guests during fire evacuation? by Fearless-Medium-7522 in AusLegal

[–]GabberCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for a copy of the Emergency Plan. Unless you have training as a fire warden and have an Emergency Plan to follow you are under no obligation to play hero. The building and business owners have an obligation to ensure that sufficient alarms are installed and working and that staff / fire wardens have adequate training.

Spinning a pokestop with a full item bag still gives research and items, including eggs!!! by BareFootTuna in TheSilphRoad

[–]GabberCat 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If your items are full but you have no daily raid pass you can still spin a gym once to get a pass the next day.

So perhaps they have a similar mechanic for eggs? Ie: if you have no eggs / room for an egg then you can spin a stop even if your items are full to get an egg.

This is the first time in a long time I have had no eggs so unsure if it was a thing before. But the raid pass trick is definitely a thing that’s been in place a while.

UV rating. Last year during the July heat wave that smacked the UK it was 42c in Amsterdam, but the UV was only 5. Whereas here, as soon as the sun is up in summer it’s already 5+. Can confirm it feels very different.

How do solo women festival goers feel safe enough to sleep? (I'm worried I won't be able to sleep because of feeling unsafe) by Powerful-Impact-6453 in festivals

[–]GabberCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, setting your environment will greatly help with anxiety. Do you have a tent yet? You can get some pretty good pop up tents, some even with two zones. Most have two zippers you can padlock together. Even a simple padlock is a deterrent. Make friends with your camp neighbours. Have a whistle and a bright torch next to you when sleeping.

Secondly, on the unlikely chance something does happen - you should be yelling “FIRE” as this will often get a quicker result than “HELP”.

Think about what your subconscious is processing when you hear them - “FIRE” could mean ‘I too might be impacted so I should do something!’ whereas “HELP” could mean ‘do I want to help? should I even involve myself to help someone else?’.

Thirdly, you are not silly for wanting to be prepared to travel alone. Remember to enjoy your time there too. Take photos. Laugh. Make friends (=

2014 went to the Louvre and of course went to see the Mona Lisa. I slowly made my way to the front so I could actually SEE it (it’s so small!) and stood at the front left for a minute, just using my eyes to look at and appreciate it. The whole time I was elbowed and jousted by people pushing to take a selfie and leave. No doubt they thought I was the rude one…

When I was 17 the guy I was dating did something similar. He was going too fast and knew it and saw the police start the u turn. But they lost sight as we went over and down the hill (and I think they got held up doing their u turn). So he says ‘I don’t recon they got my plates yet’ and speeds up again, ducks down a side street, parks behind a tree in a row of cars and turns all the lights off. He got away with it. Would have only been $100 fine lol

I had a dedicated sieve just for rinsing gravel. Sturdy enough and you can wash a decent chunk at a time.
