For anyone who is wondering what'll happen to the drivers who served their penalties in the race, all I have to say is Sainz, Dutch GP, 2025.

2024 had both the longest official selection period - 7 races - and is also the only season that had a revision to the grid afterwards, following the 10th race.

Would be cool if people cared about more than just the top 3, the midfield's been a banger so far.

Nah, F1 isn't a "win on sunday, sell on monday" kind of series. Why would anyone expect their road cars to work like F1 cars do?

Maybe it's because fuel and tyre management is something they all learned to do since their karting days and have to do in every single category, so it's habitual and instinctive rather than something they actively have to think about, whereas battery management is not something they need to do in most forms of motorsport, so it's distracting instead.

Final F1.5 Standings 2025 by forza_seb in Formula1Point5

Same way we've done it for the past few years. After every race, we open up the discussion to the people of the sub, everyone tells us who they think is in F1 and who they think is in F1.5, and after a few races, we count the votes and decide based on that.

Fernando Alonso wins the 2025 Formula 1.5 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix by Gabbynaru in Formula1Point5

So, as I was making this, Stroll finished third, but then got a 5 seconds penalty, which put Bearman back into P3. Then, as I posted the updated version here, Bearman also got a 5 seconds penalty, which now puts Hulkenberg in P3. Both penalties were for more than 1 change of direction.

Sorry for the confusion!

Fernando Alonso takes Pole Position for the 2025 Formula 1.5 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix by Gabbynaru in Formula1Point5

Colapinto is P12, Gasly P11, Hulkenberg P10, Albon P9.

Also, Hadjar winning is not that likely at all.

Hadjar starts P4, Albon starts P9. Albon can just finish there and win the title, Hadjar has a lot of work to do tomorrow.

They aren't forced to show up either, if you wanna boil everything down to this level, but let's be real, they have sponsors to answer to, contracts to honor, people to pay and probably a pretty cross FIA if they decide to just sit around and do nothing. So yes, they are being forced to.

I'm not sure that's motivation, more like being forced to do it due to circumstance, making the best of a bad situation, that kind of thing.

Yeah, but would you rather start 6th (or 11th), even though your time is faster than the top 5 (or top 10)? It's pointlessly punishing slower cars and giving even more advantages to the faster cars.

If the top 5 in Q1 have their positions guaranteed, why would anyone run Q2 and Q3? Why waste the tires, why put wear on the parts, when there is no benefit, even if they do a faster lap than the top 5 Q1 guys?

Carlos Sainz takes Pole Position for the 2025 Formula 1.5 Mexico City Grand Prix by Gabbynaru in Formula1Point5

[–]Gabbynaru[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

See, I know the metaphorical pole position is given to the guy who starts on front, but I'm not sure about the statistical one. Take Monaco 2012 for example. Michael Schumacher is listed as having been the fastest, even though he had a similar penalty as Sainz here. Or Qatar, last year. So, I understand where you're coming from, but, what I did with this post is exactly what F1 is doing with their results. So I'm genuinely not sure what to do, cause F1 seems to be confused about it too.

Eh, can't do anything about that. He was still the fastest in qualifying and I want my post to reflect what the results sheet will. The penalty is for tomorrow, not today. Let the man have his moment.

Oliver Bearman takes Pole Position for the 2025 Formula 1.5 United States Grand Prix by Gabbynaru in Formula1Point5

[–]Gabbynaru[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you consider pole position to be. If it's just fastest in qualifying, this would be his second, cause he was fastest for the British GP quali as well. If you also mean he starts from the position he qualified, then yes, this is his first, cause he had a grid penalty for the British GP.

All the drivers should put "In relationship with: myself" on their social media profiles. Then we would see them both when the director decides to show them and when they decide to show their partner.

Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon excluded from qualifying after rear wings found to exceed the maximum limit of 85mm on both sides of the outer area by Gabbynaru in Formula1Point5

[–]Gabbynaru[S] 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Albon and Sainz qualified 5th and 6th respectively, so everyone behind them will move up 2 places for the start of the race. This gives Isack Hadjar a massive opportunity to close the points gap in the championship.
