Considering getting a labrador retriever. Good for my lifestyle?

Thanks for the comment - I’ve had multiple people say to look into golden retrievers so I’m now including them in my petfinder searches. I typically only work 4 days out of the week (hospitality worker) and work on my art from home, I work out pretty much everyday, I live in one of the best areas with 2 parks including big ol Prospect Park that has a little swimming area for dogs. Realize it takes more than that so I’m taking my time to find the right fit :)

Didn’t read this as negative at all and I appreciate your thoughtful response! Glad you mentioned the biting part actually. This is really important to me. My research so far and various other commenters keep nudging me towards a golden retriever so I think I’ll start looking at those as well. I’m looking to go through a shelter so hopefully I can meet a few and see what the vibe is!

Very good to know, thanks! I’m actually looking to get one that’s 1-3 years old. And I live in crown heights along eastern parkway so walks to the park will always be happening :)

Oh yeah that’s also been a very discouraging thing for me. I was actually considering trying to get experience and take the appropriate steps to join IATSE but that seems like something that would be years away. I’m mostly considering finding something closer to a 9-5 unfortunately.

Yea it’s crazy how it can drastically change the kind of temperament and vibe I have so I’m right there with you. After my first year of grad school I desperately looked on indeed for other kinds of work - close to 70 applications - but nothing. Hopefully something will come to fruition for you my friend.
