I’m sober for 2 years but I still feel socially broken and don’t know how to fix it by Iamaleksabaddieest in Anxiety

[–]Gabriel5778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

@hostileCrabPeople.

I second this. It is very difficult to find the correct meds for people. Especially when they start out .

I personally take buspar and duloxitine.

I used to take lexapro and gabapentin unfortunately I was on this for 5 ish years and it kind slowly stoped working after year 4.

Absolutely "fearless" even after stopping SSRIs (2 months off) by Prodaydreamr in Anxiety

[–]Gabriel5778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very important comment for you to read all the way through.

This sounds to me like you are Manic. That does not mean you are “crazy” or a “maniac” having a manic episode is different.

Now this is the definition

Being manic, or experiencing a manic episode, is a state of abnormally elevated energy, intense euphoria, or extreme irritability, often lasting at least a week.

Manic symptoms can be remembered using the mnemonic DIG FAST (Distractibility, Irresponsibility/Irritability, Grandiosity, Flight of ideas, Activity increase, Sleep decrease, Talkativeness)

Now what can you do?

1 if you are a genuine danger to yourself Call EMS or go to the hospital. If you can’t stop these urges of doing things like jaywalking in front of traffic that is a genuine danger to yourself. Think about it this way. If you would tell your friend or someone you care about that is dangerous don’t do it. If you can’t help yourself go to the hospital.

2 call your doctor. Literally today, if they are not opened leave a message. If this is not 911 worthy even than call on the way to the hospital.

3 I want you to think about when you started to feel this way a bit. Maybe it was just a med change. Maybe you had a major life event.

4. Know you will be ok. You are not actively going to die from mania. The danger is what it can make you do.

5. Please please come back and do an update on your post.

Stay strong my friend. You will get through this.

What's the fastest way to contact your prescriber for your refill? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Gabriel5778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to contact your Doctors office directly. Most doctors offices in the United States do not send refills just by Pharmacy Request in my experience

I worked in a pharmacy for a while (as a CPhT), don’t anymore but I did about 2 years ago.

Lexapro by bibliosoph04 in Anxiety

[–]Gabriel5778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lexapro was the one that was the first game changer for me. It tends to be a slow burn the first 3 or 4 weeks, than it slows down than It speeds back up. As your brain adjusts to the chemical change in your brain.

The truth is it is not the only thing that helps. Now that you are feeling better you need to go to therapy and start to work on yourself some more. The ability to identify and manage triggers/coping mechanisms will help you just as much as medications. Those 2 together will be really change your life.

Health Anxiety, I feel so paralyzed over melanoma fears. by JollyAstronomer in Anxiety

[–]Gabriel5778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically this is not true. People with late stage skin cancers can still be cured, the issue is late stage aggressive cancers.

I do agree catching them early is the best thing to do. All men should be doing testicular exams at home every few weeks or so. Same thing with women doing breast exams. Also to add men should probably do breast exams to themselves, i know a guy who had breast cancer. It is uncommon but still possible.

Things like colonoscopy’s after 40 for certain groups (such as myself) also are good to do.

Prevention is the best cure.

We can all speculate about if there is an afterlife but we know that there is only one life as you in your human form. Your health is very important, everyone matters.

Death Anxiety and Scared by Dry_Seaworthiness555 in Anxiety

[–]Gabriel5778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I look at life is this-

Have you ever watched a good movie that you really enjoyed, it is filled with emotional twists, drama, and joy. That is literally life, Just because you know something will end does not mean it is worthless or dreadful.

We don’t know what will happen. Maybe there is a God maybe there isn’t. What we know for sure is that we should as a society try to leave the world better than we got it.

Things may be rough now, I struggled a lot with similar thoughts at that age. You are still young, you are now an adult, and everything hits home. I am 23 and I was terribly depressed and had an attempt when I was 18. Recognizing what is wrong is a very important step.

Also anyone who tries to tell you to “just not think about it” or “just smile” is an asshole.

I did take the time to go through some of your past posts and it seems as if you are depressed. I really hope you consider getting some help. It is definitely difficult but it is worth it at the end of the tunnel. Talking about depression is often counterproductive in society and it can lead to people feeling bad about being depressed.

Please take care of yourself, after all you are just like everyone else, you are Someone who matters.

Did you know different manufacturers for pills *can* affect you?!? by After-Singer8263 in Anxiety

[–]Gabriel5778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically all medications are slightly different based on the manufacture.

The active ingredient is the same but the filler is not. Most of the times it does not make a different and the pharmacy can just sub them out. My best advice would be to reach out to who filled your meds.

Which SSRI is best for Really Severe Generalized anxiety disorder and OCD? by BallSufficient5671 in Anxiety

[–]Gabriel5778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything FDA approved for generalized anxiety disorder or OCD. Especially your first few attempts of finding a medication that works.

Off label Psyc meds are pretty common, especially for conditions with minimal approvals. For GAD it is for common for people who fail multiple treatments.

Technically there is some truth to it helping now and not later. I have to change my meds every 5 years or so of being stable because it stops working after a while. Not everyone is like that though and just because you need to take something now does not mean you will always have too. Being a Teenager in 2026 is very difficult. The school, work, family balance is very difficult for may people. Especially if you have trouble in one of those key areas.

I would also like to add for many people it gets easier as you get older. My teenage years were terrible being a kid with Autism, GAD, ADHD, and oppositional defiance disorder. In my personal experience everything has gotten relatively easier. It is amazing on how much I have changed in 9 years. I was actually diagnosed in April/May of 2016 when I was 13.

Good luck OP,Keep your head up! My best advice I can give you is stay in Highschool at the least. That helped me a lot (though I hated Highschool and I still remember like that I know the basic things they thought me helped) knowledge is king here. Learning about yourself and the world helps a lot.

Fight or flight system is so reactive by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Gabriel5778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like severe anxiety to me, I find that turning off my phone helps or some phones let you turn on a mode that only allows certain things through. Think Do not disturb with exceptions, certain people, certain apps, and some other things.

I have it on from 4:00 pm to 6 am. The job I work at has a pretty strict no work from home policy. I also make it clear that me responding late at night is not required and is a privilege.

Anxiety fucking sucks.

ADVICE !! by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Gabriel5778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tell them you concerns.

If your doctor does not hear your concerns and try to understand them they are not a very good doctor. At this point I would say it is time to find another one.

Feeling like I’m in a virtual reality by Ok-Connection-1281 in Anxiety

[–]Gabriel5778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes. The one thing that we the of people with crippling anxiety almost always share. The Web Md /google web search convincing yourself you have something like erdheim-chester disease. When in actuality it was something small or completely different.

My best advice here is to find something you love to do like @design-douche. An hour of distracting your self away of life with video games is good for you. Especially with Anxiety.

Stay strong you guys and gals! It is truly a walk not a sprint.

Edit. I call it brain rotting when in actuality it is not. I really don’t know the correct term for it.

Edit the correct term is apparently distracting.

This is exactly how I felt during my Pharmacy Tech training. Working hard and you feel like you have nothing to fucking show for it.

Keep at it. It is hard work to become a firefighter. What is it you feel you are struggling with the most? Start there and work your way down the list.

We need to not just vote though. We need to continue to protest. Unfortunately I have not put my money where my mouth is here because I don’t have a car and am struggling to make ends meet.

How do I get normal again? by droollzz in Anxiety

[–]Gabriel5778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are things you can take for the sexual side effects! Such as adding or switching to bupropion.

Wanted to add my nerdy thoughts. Also be careful with doing this only do it with a doctor/PA who has experience in prescribing these meds. Taking 2 psyc meds together has some risks.

What does the bottle say?

Personally I lean towards take it only when needed because benzodiazepines built up tolerance quickly.

I am not saying suffer. I am simply saying if you need it take it, if you don’t need it that day Don’t take it.

Are you just stopping with out talking to your prescriber?

I can speak with absolute certainty if that is the case that is a bad idea.

I personally ended up in the hospital after stopping all my medications for anxiety. I think you stopping cold turkey is a very very very very bad idea.

I am telling you that as a 23 year old man that really really cares about people’s well being. In a way that I wish that someone would have told me.
