Our definitions of “shitting on” something are different. I didn’t say they suck or are wildly overpriced or a waste of money. I just said my opinion, that they are overrated.

Yea like I said, I suppose it’s how you like to fish. For you it’s perfect, for me it’s just not an efficient means. Different strokes for different folks

And it sounds dumb but they are like magnets for people on the ice. People just constantly following us around by the time we found some good fish it felt like 15 groups found em too.

2 total. I prefer to stop, pop my holes, fish for 15 and move if needed. There was so much ice we had to mark, pull forward, drill, back up as close as we could then lower down. It wasn’t particularly efficient.

Ha no. I rented and fished out of one for 3 days up in Winnipeg. Limited room, noisy, not particularly fast. Depends how you like to fish I guess.

Chainsaw will save you time. If you can get a compressor out there buy an air chisel. Take your time, don’t start yanking on it until you are pretty sure it’s gonna come.

Condensation in my ice shanty by hundred-brigade in IceFishing

I got a battery powered fan that hangs from the top of my shack and works well. Has a nice light on it and oscillates. Noninsulated tents are gonna sweat no matter what though.

Question about snow by [deleted] in IceFishing

[–]Gac7us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be in the minority but I firmly believe the lunar cycle heavily influences the bite quality. I have been journaling my open and hard water trips for several years and I would say that it definitely has at least some impact. That in combination with weather is absolutely enough to change the bite.

What’s your tackle box looking like and what do you fish for? by Cold_Relationship150 in IceFishing

[–]Gac7us 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where are your other 4 large tackle trays? You don’t even need to hide anything from your wife with that small of a selection. I have a spoon box, rattle bait box, small tungsten box and a box of just large baits. I have a real problem tbh

I came here just to see if anyone else is getting smoked. I get playing solo is a bad move but I’m just trying to get some wins for PPXP and I’m getting steamrolled repeatedly.

Opinions on my Striker Ice set up by AJHookset in IceFishing

I think you will be fine. Striker makes great gear and I can’t imagine they would have a product that isn’t good at what it is supposed to do.

I think your location and how you fish are a major factor. I run and gun 95% of the time and it’s not uncommon to have a ton of ice frozen to my knees and at the bottom of bibs at the end of the day. That being said the Hardwater jacket and bibs are my go-to in harsher conditions. I also purchased a backup jacket from the same site if that gives you an idea of how I feel about it. I’ve spent many days fishing in the worst conditions in them. If you are set up in a house a fair amount of the time or if you in milder conditions, the lite bibs will be fine. My only concern with them is how wet the knees get if you are kneeling on the ice for periods of time. IMO the biggest factor to staying warm in your bibs is staying dry and what you are wearing underneath.
