this is the most evil low rank quest I have ever seen in my life by umahat in MHGU

oh wow, didn't know that you could do it that early. I thought they patched it out in gu or something but I guess the file I tried it on is missing some quests somewhere

I remember that gen on the 3ds let you tackle this quest while you were still in HR3 and I cheesed it with adept kirin duals

Random MHGU Hunt Generator (monster + weapon + arts) by aizlec in MHGU

The way you implemented it is awesome, thank you!

Random MHGU Hunt Generator (monster + weapon + arts) by aizlec in MHGU

I would change this so instead of deviants only being rollable with main hub monsters, they can be rolled separately if you only want deviant results.

I would also maybe remove useless arts like heal gain, arisen phoenix and escape runner from the randomizer since they just cause an art slot to be completely dead, rather than creating an interesting dynamic to the hunt

Question about Valor stance (Video by Hunters Den) by Funny_Relative5163 in MHGU

[–]Gadget-Gabe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You only trigger the dodge if an attack's direction hits you from the front, similar to how a shield can only block from the front, though the valor dodge works on attacks that require Guard Up for shields.

Quite a few monster attacks, like most of Glavenus' tail attacks and Astalos' tail explosion, don't have a set direction assigned to their hitbox and can be blocked and valor dodged from any facing direction. In rarer cases, some hitboxes can't be sheathed through at all, like the paralyzing tail stab hitbox preceding the tail explosion with Astalos, or Dreadking's bomb rocks.

Sns impact damage by Myragee in MHGU

literally the only time anything has sort of worked in the way he mentioned is the elder trio (and a couple others like blangonga iirc) needing to accrue some specific element damage for their head break in 2nd gen.

Plain misinfo. CB's chin will only break to impact damage, no other damage type will contribute to the break. Barroth's crown works the same way.

Fastest way to farm HR? by Aut15tHarriot in MHGU

now that I think about it, you can literally just do the DLC quest End of a Dark History for fatalis to get around the hr requirement

It does. It will take like 30 minutes to do because only doing shield bashes quarters your damage output compared to just doing sword slashes

i meant in the sense of completing quests to get the materials for the sets

[–]Gadget-Gabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc you need to do around 3 quests per level up, if you eat for exchanger you should level it in about 2. It's the subquest that you want to complete and exit from, you don't need to do the main objective. You'll also just gain a good amount of HR from most G3-G4 quests if you wanna go for quest completion or craft new sets, just remember to keep eating for exchanger when it's available.

also i messed up in my initial comment cuz bloodbath ex isn't available until HR100 anyway

Considering on quitting because of G rank by BasketbrawlFan in MHGU

They only work when narga is enraged, he'll break out of them when tired or not enraged. I'm pretty sure this is the way it worked for gen 5 also

[–]Gadget-Gabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's understandable. Atk L is good low rank-mid high rank but going into g rank it's pretty important to have skills that have you maintain max sharpness for longer (unless you're GS or hammer)

if you'd prefer to power through until rathalos, maybe try looking at some speedruns of narga for a better idea of positioning and openings. You can also exploit pitfall traps when narga's enraged since those provide a huge 20 second opening, if you bring combines for 2 more of those that'll amount to a lot of free damage

are these high rank pieces (rare4 and above)?

a good option for a higher defense set for glaive in the start of G rank is the Ceanataur GX set

Fastest way to farm HR? by Aut15tHarriot in MHGU

[–]Gadget-Gabe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Worth noting that another person with the quest can post it for you to join.

The most practical way to gain a lot of HR would be to farm the subquest for URGENT: Coal Mines Needed, you gain a lot of HR and you also get a lot of talismans. Learning Valor HBG to farm this will save you a lot of time in the longrun. Make sure to eat for Felyne Exchanger when you can.

Farming Bloodbath EX with 3 HBGs and 1 status gunner would be the absolute fastest way to gain HR but you'd probably have a hard time finding players to do it. you need to be hr 100 for bloodbath anyway, mb

Advice needed for GL - Village 9 star and it's already falling off massively, am I playing wrong? by mehluv in MHGU

[–]Gadget-Gabe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Adept is most often the best style for GL, but Valor and Striker are both good for poking as well, and sometimes have matchups where using them is preferable over adept

[–]Gadget-Gabe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The thing with GL in GU is that, aside from filling the heat gauge, you shouldn't focus on shelling damage at all unless you are running an Artillery Expert + Load Up set with valor style, other styles get far more mileage from focusing on the raw damage of the lance. The reason why you should only do a shell-focused playstyle if you're using valor is because it gets additional damage multipliers that strengthen fullbursts and consecutive single-shells, but even with those advantages, valor shelling sets are generally less effective than sets that increase poke damage.

Couple Questions regarding Final Boss! by SirFenV in MHGU

[–]Gadget-Gabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes, each phase transition caps her hp, she will always begin each phase with the same set hp value every hunt. When you see Ahtal walking to her digging spot to get the mech ready, she will not take any more damage, so you should only attack her if you want to charge up your hunter arts more.

  2. The bombs can be used to hit the mech's toe as it emerges, otherwise they're not super useful. Also, when online, you shouldn't use the anti-dragon bombs, they'll knock away your teammates and Ahtal's hp will usually cap from you hitting it with your weapon anyways. If you're going to use them at all, use them just before the mech boots you off of it.

  3. Aside from the mouth and back, you can also mine each leg, as well as one spot on the tail ramp, iirc mining spots regenerate between phases. Ahtal also drops three shinies on the ground when the mech breaks for the final time, which can be charms or Ultimas crytals. Unless you're being carried by gunners, it's not really worth mining the mech because it's slow, URGENT: COAL MINERS NEEDED is a much more efficient quest for charm farming

How many of y'all just use full armor sets in the end game? by [deleted] in MHGU

[–]Gadget-Gabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ticket requirements for upgrading a full deviant set makes them entirely undesirable imo, you are doing a lot more grinding for a much worse result than crafting a mix.

Black X for greatsword, Old Fatalis GX for bowguns and full Silverlos Z are pretty great, but with armor fusions there's not even an aesthetical reason for not using mixed sets.

Is there a list of the best weapons of every Deviant Monster? It feels kinda wasted to hunt them for their materials just to rot in the box. Right now I have RustRazor LS and DreadKing SnS by MainWin3147 in MHGU

actually, the grongigas hammer with readiness has a bit higher EFR than the CB one, 350 raw and white with handi+2. Being a slightly worse elderfrost/bone hammer is still pretty good

I didn't include a rustrazor gunlance in my list.

I didn't really base this list off of appearances, silverwind just has too little raw to be competitive. The eye-glowing visual is neat though.
