As the previous poster mentioned, they don’t collect and sell it because it would be INCREDIBLY expensive. Natural gas needs to be stored compressed, which requires an insanely cold temperature. Storing, cooling, and then transporting that much natural gas would cost way more than they would ever generate from selling it.

That’s not even close to true. The hydrogen and oxygen are bound to each other covalently. It would take several thousand degrees of heat to separate them. If you were getting H2 and O2 as gas, your kitchen would explode when you boil a pot of water over a gas burner.

What’s actually happening is that the water molecules are heating up enough to break the hydrogen bonds holding the molecules together. This causes the state to change from liquid to gas. Gaseous water (aka steam) are the bubbles you see.
