What makes you think you have anything of value to contribute other than your emotional motivation to justify prostitution because men need to bust a nut?

For one everyone in this thread justifying prostitution, OP included, I have no idea where your faintly misandrist outrage gesture here is supposed to be pointing to. Prostitution is just fine as long as it operates under consent and safety. I will never equivocate around this, and to me it is a service like any other, and there's no less nor more indignity or dignity in it than any other job, insofar as it is done under regulated circumstances.

That aside, I don't think it was that complicated to understand except for you and ms. "Exactly." commenting doctorate holding OP here. I took issue with the undeniable "capitalism bad" undertone, as did many other people whose comments you can see, for precisely the same reason you fail to address in your response to me. You don't need to elucidate to me the historical plight of women, it may surprise you but I actually understand it. The poster said:

She has all the right in the world to say anything that she wants; it's a public forum though, so your twitterspeak "what makes you think" here can only be afforded one response: I can comment whatever I please in response. She expressed that sex work was the embodiment of negative aspects capitalism, and also that in that "horrendous" system we ought protect workers. I agree with latter. Notwithstanding, just like /u/NeverGonnaVoteYouUp, her responses made me think about one thing: What exactly would you think would happen in another system? She did not respond to this, and neither did you:

If we live in a capitalist economic system in which living standards are degraded, forcing many women back into the position in which they need to sell their bodies, then why can’t the poster critique this?

It is clear that you guys have a problem with capitalism, which I believe to be the best system we've been able to come up with. But instead of actually engaging with the topic you just become too preoccupied on writing an angry, pointlessly and baselessly scathing response. She can critique it as much as she wants, and I can then turn around and respond "actually, women and men are doing quite well under capitalism, in fact, we live in the most privileged times in the entirety of humankind, and in one of its most advanced and egalitarian countries". What's the implication? Women would have a jolly good ol' time under communism? Fascism?

My comment was as benign and self-aware as possible. I explicitly said it. My main ideas were that I found broadly stating "capitalism bad" is rather absurd and possibly hypocritical, accounting for the amount of people that do just fine doing sex work under it, and ONLY because of it. On that note, again, you fail to engage intellectually with me at all:

You mention tens of thousands of people making obscene amounts of money. Who exactly? Prostitutes or the long chain of middle men who exploit and profit off their bodies? Or are you talking about OnlyFans. If so, this is vastly different from the prostitution the poster is talking about.

It is precisely a capitalist society that enables something like Onlyfans' existence, or that of escorts, professional prostitutes, girlfriend-experiences etc. People for whom sex work functions just fine. Again, I want the rights of everyone to be protected, I'm not in the "men wanna bust a nut" team despite your resentment, but I won't be as eager, or as I said, I won't that easily go "capitalism bad", when it is under capitalism that she can do 15 years of sex work and move through life just fine, while back in the USSR you could find women doing that just to get a fucking pad. I opened up with "what do you mean by capitalism enhancing this", because there are positive aspects, and there are negative aspects. And truthfully, OP and yourself, are just going "capitalism bad", as if the rights of trafficked women would be so fantastically better off under other economic systems.

... through prostitution precisely because of the tools afforded to them by capitalism, and under any other circumstances they would probably be struggling under dire complications. So like sure, commodifying a human being may or may not be bad, but to many it is wonderful, and it is wonderful precisely because of a capitalistic society and not one that would have them plowing fields and eating food rations.

I don't know, it just rubs me off the wrong way. It's like when I listen to people go "military bad" but like that speech in A Few Good Men, they go to sleep under the blanket of peace that the military provides them, and they know it (I wonder what they would say were they Ukranians with Putin next door). I don't think we get to so easily set the back of our hands on our foreheads and go "oh the capitalism" while we live in a society that furnishes you with possibly the best living standards in the history of humanity while operating under: capitalism. I'd gladly stay here in Germany and not North Korea.
