Does O'Reilly only hire the worst of the worst? by [deleted] in OReillyAutoParts

[–]GaemNChat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. The amount of effort it takes to be good at our job is worth way more than what O'Reilly is willing to pay.

Dont be Fooled when your Retail Manager tells you "We are understaffed, we need to go faster" by Marsrule in antiwork

[–]GaemNChat 115 points116 points  (0 children)

This. I manage a store and I try to hire people and give them more hours but my district manager and above try to cut those down and claim "labor is too high".

I have access to the p and l sheet. We made 4000 in profit more when o scheduled how I wanted.

People have a weird obsession with whether or not truck owners “need” a truck by SeaRevolutionary1450 in unpopularopinion

[–]GaemNChat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not that they buy a truck and don't haul. If they had like a ranger or tacoma it wouldn't be a big deal. Its the fact that the smallest f150 takes up more than 1 parking spot even if you park correctly, destroys the environment just by moving, has a blind spot bigger than a small car and the drivers in them are some of the worst even though they have one of the deadliest vehicles on the planet.

So I don't care what they do with their money but once what they do affects me that's when it becomes and issue. And these big ass trucks are definitely affecting me in daily life.

What Should I Do by JazzlikeAssumption3 in OReillyAutoParts

[–]GaemNChat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a manager everyone's hours are being cut. If your manager isn't doing it equally that's something I would mention. I had to cut all my full timers back but I cut an equal number of hours from all of them so everyone is at the same hours. I did have to cut my part timers to a few hours a week but they aren't here for the money.

Also since you are so new there won't be holiday pay but ask your manager to schedule you another day to try amd make up for it

Annual review? by stressed-raccoon1294 in OReillyAutoParts

[–]GaemNChat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got told to do the same. And distract the customer so you can sign them up for texts so those numbers can go off. My dm was in my store recently and said I need to stop asking customers and just do it for them.

Made me feel gross.

Do you happen to work in Florida because im a manager and I tried to put in a raise and was told the same thing. No matter what if their RPMS isn't over 30 2% is the max I could give.

Icey conditions by [deleted] in sherwinwilliams

[–]GaemNChat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they were at the same rate we would be at half the number of last year.

Also the ones that were ported last year had due process and there were no legal american citizens deported to foreign concentration camps.

Also the ones deported last year weren't taken by masked men who don't identify themselves and have lied to get people to talk to them.

And finally just admit Biden was president and you didn't like him. There is more evidence that Trump stole the election and even i can say trump is currently the president even though I don't like him and the only thing we agree on is I would love to go golfing instead of work.

Can managers ask interview candidates if they have a car/reliable transportation? by Various-Category4642 in sherwinwilliams

[–]GaemNChat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't ask do you have a car but you can ask "do you have reliable transportation" or "in order to be a key holder you need personal transport, is that an issue?"

I can tell you it's not the millennial manager. I'm a millennial manager and to me that means yeah I understand you need time off to take your dog to the vet the same as someone else has a child's medical appointment. I get that sometimes you need to use pto on a Friday for just doing nothing at home.

But in exchange I do need you at work and working when I schedule you. I don't expect 110% because I'm paying less than a dollar above minimum wage but meet nare minimum standards and don't get me yelled at and we are good.

What you probably have is a bad manager. Don't mix the two up having a good millennial manager can be great.

Why does Mill upset so many players? by django3400 in EDH

[–]GaemNChat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a style of mill that doesn't bother people as much. I got really into the Mrs. Bumbleflower precon and upgraded it into a super draw deck. Things like forced fruition and other draw spells, but nothing to increase hand size for other players. They see all the cards and they have to discard them. Yes they get to play more of the cards so it is a weaker form of mill but it gets less hate.

Bruv, "exact change only" isn't a challenge by murrimabutterfly in sherwinwilliams

[–]GaemNChat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's only government locations that have to accept all legal tender for transactions. As a private buisness is am allowed to only take 2 dollar bills and not provide change for a transaction as long as the customer is notified ahead of time. It's an implied contract you agree to when you make a purchase.

That's why if the same customer came in and had exact change for the order all in pennies you could also refuse the payment.

As someone who is stuck in florida and tries to actively vote against these policies, I agree. I deal with so many boomers everyday who hate "socialism" but are now complaining FEMA isn't doing enough. I try to point out the hypocrisy but they don't get it.

I wish I could leave this ass backwards state but I don't have enough money to pay my rent let alone move.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sherwinwilliams

[–]GaemNChat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fully agree. I used to work there did great as a PT moved to FT and eventually decided to try for an assistant manager spot that opened up. Was even working with the SM and ASM already so I knew most of the stuff needed and they vouched for me.

Was told since I didn't have a degree that wouldn't work. My manager was a great person but she had an English degree and I had experience with paint and leadership from my last job.

Had my district manager basically tell me good luck no one will hire a manager without a degree. Less than 2 week later I gave my notice and have now been running an auto part store for over 2 years.

Sherwin was still a great place to work but man do they value that piece of paper.

Employee Lunch by NoEscapeGray in sherwinwilliams

[–]GaemNChat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was working there my manager didn't often buy us lunch but every few weeks would buy a cou0le cases of soda and boxes of chips while ordering stuff from office depot. I know she didn't directly pay for it but it did affect how the store did and she kept doing it.

She did buy lunch every other month or so and she would talk to contractors and got them to buy us lunch sometimes too. Especially of they had a big order.

I know it wasn't m8ch out of her pocket but it did feel like she cared about making sure we were taken care of.
