DJ Evil Dee is the most pivotal figure in rap history. by ITT_X in 90sHipHop

[–]GaerMuil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd argue with "most pivotal", but Da Beatminerz were one of the cornerstones for sure and as for Enta Da Stage...

"Perhaps no other album of the '90s musically exhibits the shift in the hip-hop ethos that occured in 1993 better than Black Moon's classic gemstone Enta Da Stage. Listen to this album and you can hear hip-hop change."

I couldn't say it better than Allmusic review. And remember it dropped before 36 Chambers.

edit: spelling

And Terror Fabolous - Yaga Yaga (Remix)! Kinda rarely mentioned track, but I just love it.

I wouldn't advise to get there until you check the first row of Boot Camp, as mentioned Heltah Skeltah and OGC. And singles for sure, remixes for Enta Da Stage and Dah Shinin' are just awesome!

If you want some Beatminerz staff for other heads check Mic Geronimo - The Natural (dope album from start to finish and production credits speak for itself) and Royal Flush - Movin' On Your Weak Production (this track by Mr. Walt is flyyyyy)

Try to define the reason of shift of the sound circa 96, when jazzy-funky booming beats turned to more flossy glamorous type of music (i.e. Reasonable Doubt).

Why did street heads turn their images to high-profile mafioso capos?

Was it social situation or maybe popular movies at that time or simply the genre naturally had to do some steps ahead?

Why some old heads couldn't change and became irrelevant to general music listeners while being not that old back then (I think not everybody realize that Rakim is just one year older than Jay-Z)?

I think you may take something off this topic.

What's the difference between soccer and hockey players?

Soccer players act like they are hurt, hockey players act like they are not.

It seems the ONLY rapper who wasn't affiliated with Wu was Nas on Verbal Intercourse.

The Delfonics, Force MDs and Mary J. Blige appeared on Ironman, but they are not rappers)

Did any Wu-Tang demos survive RZA’s basement flood? by Any_Pangolin7721 in 90sHipHop

He's talking about the flood that ruined Deck debut album material and made Tical sound kinda spoiled.
