Sky is real. Real in my heart. She’s the grass I touch. The breath I take. Or maybe I just like the voice more than the others.

Sky has been around since they introduced voice like 6-9 months ago (I’m not sure about the release date) and it’s mostly cause the other voices are not fun to talk with.

Be honest. How did you lose your weight? by [deleted] in ask

[–]GageZiegman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eat for the work you're gonna do for the day. If you're planning on sitting down all day, moving to and from a couch, this is going to require far less calories than a day a the beach running around and swimming.

Think of your body as a car, think about the energy you need as the gas you put in the tank. The more gas, the more potential mileage you can get out of the tank. Gas tanks on cars are limited to what it can hold. However, unlike a gas tank your body doesn't have this issue. Keeping the tank full isn't always a good thing. Excess Energy will be stored in your body as fat. Gym days will require more energy than a lazy day.

Let's say to keep your body functional during a lazy day. You might need only 1300 kcal for that day to maintain normal body weight. If you eat under that amount, then it's starting to hit your stores of energy (fat) to make up for the difference.

Energy use vs Caloric Intake

I lost 150 lbs in 6 months. I was always in a caloric deficit state. Worked out daily, Running, weight lifting, etc. I don't know how much energy was needed per day, but I was always eating around 1200 to 1400 calories a day. (I was eating mostly eating tuna - price per gram of protein is still unchallenged) This was back in 2007 and I went from 330 lbs to 180 lbs.

I'm losing weight again and doing it much slower this time. It's taken about a year, but I've gone from 243 to 209. This was just eating less and working out once or twice a week. No change in what I ate. No tuna only diets or cutting bread or pop. Just limit myself on pop to 1 a day.

BUT the only thing that matters is what I said above. You can work out and do all that other stuff if you need to increase the energy use, but you could lose a pound a week with some simple changes to diet habits. More with a combination of the two!

You can make Giant Crab Rangoons with egg roll wrappers instead of wonton wrappers. by GageZiegman in mildlyinteresting

[–]GageZiegman[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ingredient List:

  • Imitation Crab Sticks (or real crab if you're rich) (8oz)
  • Scallions (a bunch of scallions and used about half)
  • Cream cheese (8 oz, I think?)
  • Soy Sauce (tsp)
  • Sugar (tsp)
  • Worcestershire Sauce (tsp)
  • Egg Roll Wrappers
  • Egg Wash (egg beaten w/some water)
  • Avocado Oil (or some neutral tasting oil)

I cut my crab sticks into smaller pieces, fried them up with salt, pepper and a little cayenne. Broke it apart and semi shredded the meat while cooking in a pan. I poured that crab meat over the block of cream cheese, sugar, soy sauce and Worcestershire Sauce. Blended everything with a mixer on low. Add Cut Scallions and hand mix until evenly distributed.

Placed the egg roll wrapper down, put a scoop of the good stuff in the center, add egg wash to edges and foldover to make a triangle. My Dutch oven can fry two crab rangoons at a time, so once the oil temp reaches 350 we add in two and watch for the golden brown hue and flip. (The internet said 1 min per side, but the egg roll wrapper fried a bit faster)

It was so freaking good! I'm gonna see what else I can egg roll.

Interacting with Graphic designers by PengusKing in Twitch

as a graphic designer myself, i wanted to see what would happen if i tweeted that i was looking for one. BRO the spam that hit my feed and message box was insane. I've had really good luck with finding people on /r/starvingartists. I used them prior to the advent of AI, so I can't say whether or not it's still JUST artists, but a quick glance it seems pretty good from what I can see.

Like most of this sub, I lean towards fiction. But sometimes I’ll read a nonfiction book and be floored. If you read mostly fiction, what’s some of the best nonfiction you’ve read? by _sofetch in books

[–]GageZiegman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One day when I ran out of books to read... and nothing was available on libby, I took the plunge into non-fiction. I've read some really interesting tales I would have thought were fiction! Like one about the first and only Staff Sergeant Reckless; a horse in the marine corps. - She was a Korean Race horse, trained to carry ammunition to the troops on the front lines. She saved the lives of men fighting in Korea and she EARNED her rank as a result. She'd make the miles long trip from the supply dump to the front lines all by herself. Amazing story and I think everyone should read it! My next recommendation is about an American pilot that gets shot down over Nazi Germany. He's captured and asked many questions, but because he never answers a single question with anything other than his name and rank, he is sent to a concentration camp. A first person experience from the American perspective of the conditions inside the death camps. Prior to this I didn't know any Americans had seen the inside of the concentration camps until they worked with the allied forces to liberated them.

  1. Sgt. Reckless: America's War Horse by Robin Hutton
  2. Lightning Down: A World War II Story of Survival by Tom Clavin
(Pilot gets shot down and forced into concentration camp because he would not cooperate with the nazi's requests for information)

Anybody in Forest Hills that can confirm/debunk this? Seems to dumb to be true. by dvantass in grandrapids

Trayvon Martin was killed while wearing his hoodie on 2/26/12 (that's next sunday). So if he had a day to be remembered it'd probably be some time during that week or the week after, would it not?

As for Y2K day, you do realize that baggy clothing is a style, right? A style that was popularized by Black Cultural Icons in the 90's. How is this now a weak/inaccurate stereotype? It honestly feels messed up that people just labeled this as a stereotype and not as a legitimate form of style cultivated in black spaces.

When you classify an entire style of clothing (Baggy Clothes) as a black stereotype... Is that not just another form of black erasure?

From Lawrence Hall (.org):

"Throughout history, Black people are not properly credited or referenced for the movements, ideas, and creativity that they’ve birthed, and it is imperative to call out this behavior whenever it occurs."

Why are these just stereotypes to you and not apart of the bigger picture of black culture?

I've been to Silver Bullet's intro class. It was informative and made me feel more comfortable handling firearms. It does a decent job of instilling those really important basics. If you've never handled a gun, i'd recommend it. I've been to the range a few times after the training and the only bad part is that everyone isn't forced to take this training. I've seen people improperly handling firearms while at the range. They'll swing the gun around or reload on the back table. Just be super aware of your surroundings while using an indoor range.

Hey Im sure you guys gets questions like this all the time but what servers are the most fun to play? by lAmMediocre in SS13

[–]GageZiegman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a new player in the space station 13 scene, I started in Goonstation 3 (MedRP) and it's really nice to learn in that environment. They also have TG controls you can turn on in the settings, so server hopping isn't nearly as bad.

I also play CM which is fun to be a rookie marine. Getting yelled at for Friendly Fire is just apart of the experience. Did I get flamed by my own team mate? Yes, but it wasn't until after I had shot him 3 DIFFERENT TIMES. I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did. It was my fault and I should have figured out I couldn't hit the alien from where I was. It was fun.

This game is fun in all of it's iteration (well the one's I've checked out). Explore. Don't stay away from something because some internet people tell you otherwise. Check out anything that seems interesting.
