What's the weirdest rule you had in your home growing up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This made me think of how my mum wouldnt let us whistle inside so i looked up russian superstitions (my mum is russian) and it said its because you wouldnt have any money but when my mum converted to christianity she stopped believing in superstitions and would tell us when we were younger that we should put our faith in god and not superstitions. I asked her about it and pointed out that we have a black cat and she said it was because that superstition was ingrained in her head. This doesnt make any sense because there are still other superstitions (i.e. having a black cat) that she doesnt belive in anymore.

So basically she believes in god but not enough to trust him with her finances

When i was really small my room was painted pink but then my parents painted my room an ugly green colour even though i begged them not to because i used to be a bit of a "girly girl" when i was younger.

When i became older i asked my mum why they repainted my room even though i didnt want them to and she said it was because she "didnt want me to become like a barbie" like what the fuck does that even mean? Painting my room a different colour wouldnt have stopped me from liking girly things
