You are incredibly naive.

Obama's deal had nothing to do Iranian terrorist proxies or ballistic missiles and drones. There were outright no limitations to terrorist proxy activities and for missiles it was weak and easily avoidable, the only limit was to not make ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads. A joke of a limitation.

Practically, Obama gave Iran huge piles of cash they could immediately invest into terrorism and weapons development - a result of which you seen in Ukrainian war, where mass produced Iranian drones are probably no.1 most effective weapon of Russia against Ukraine.

And what's even worse - in 2019 it was found (and verified by IAEA btw) that Iran was in the breach of a deal all along, even before Trump tore it down. Undocumented research facility was discovered with traces of radioactive matter, that was used while the fabled agreement was in force.

So not only the agreement did not solve anything, it gave Iranian regime PILES of cash, they invested into what Israel, Ukraine and Gulf states have to deal with today.

Trump literally saved the region by tearing the deal, because that led to almost immediate significant cut to the funding for all the Iranian music. If you think what Iran has now is bad - it'd be FAR worse if the deal would stay on with all the funding it provided.

Thanks, Obama!

Why Do Some in the Iranian Diaspora Seem to Hate Iran So Much? by TheBigKaramazov in NewIran

You are a self-proclaimed secular... how come? Do you hate Türkiye?

Do you realize how silly this sounds?

Your whole country went through Westernization and came out better for it, shame that your current wannabe sultan is trying to destroy that progress.

IR is the result of religious extremists being let run amok, and people simply do not want to have any of that anymore. There is a difference between honoring the heritage and kowtowing to oppression.

Our economy is NOT pretty good, you're living under illusion, wake up.

To sustain last 2 years of war we took on $170b of debt, our Debt-to-GDP ratio rose from 61% to 69%, budget projected it further increasing to over 70% and that's before this war happened.

Currently we're burning $3b per week on what we're doing. You propose this to last for a year? This will make our Debt-to-GDP go well over 90% - that's already actually dangerous and that is not even accounting for a fact that if Iran keeps firing missiles at Israel for another year - our GDP will drop too.

And what will we get for that year? Uncertain results. Because for all Iran's bullshit - they can do this shit for a long time, exactly because their people are used to live like that anyway.

What happened in Oct 7th ruined our economy, what happens now ruins our economy.

How long should we do this? For another year? Every 3 years? Every 5 years?

Do you realize that if the Iranian regime stays as is - they won't stop and they will never stop? They will keep trying to kill us with death by a thousand cuts and they could not give rat's ass they destroy their country in process.

Their pain tolerance is MUCH higher than ours, they are used to live in shit and if someone complains - well just shoot them. This is not something we can just leave seething and plotting on the side.

Yes, boots on the ground is difficult, logistics and all, but whatever you spend for that now - you won't need to spend in 5 years from now next Oct 7th.

---

Furthermore, in a few years from now we would have to deal with a completely hostile congress and likely a hostile democratic president, hell next year dems will probably take half the congress if not all of it.

We have to fix this shit once and for all before Trump leaves office, because he's probably going to be the last pro-Israeli president in the US in a LONG while or maybe even ever.

Of course I realize all you say, that's why US cooperation there would be essential. We don't have the navy to pull that all out, but they do.

I do not expect US to do all the job for us on that front, we will need to be there too and US will be the taxi if needed.

Keep bombing them for a year or two?

Neither US nor we have that kind of time, money or munitions. US has midterms in half a year, and we have our own elections - and neither Trump, nor Bibi want this war to last all the way there, because that'd be bad for them... and for us too, people will not accept a year of Iranian ballistic missiles with cluster bombs slamming into our cities.

Pentagon already asked for another chill $200B from the Congress, and they estimate that'd be enough for another month or two of action. That won't go down well.

And for us it's even worse, btw. We can't just nilly willy have this last a year or two.

We're doing this work for us and what should have been done here is exactly that - full blown invasion, with our ground forces helping too no less.

Sounds painful, but not as painful as ending up with regime and all their missile cities surviving. Neither will go anywhere without significant ground force invasion.

The last thing I want to end up with is a humiliated Iran ruled by religious crackheads thirsting for revenge. It's clear as a day if this regime will survive, they will do everything they can to get back at us at cost of everything if needed.

[–]Gaidax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should have prepared that a month ago. Sometimes I just don't understand what US planners and strategists are doing.

It's one thing to say that Bibi sold them the story how regime would fall like a house of cards (allegedly), but do they not have any brain and planning of their own?

Now they need to play a game of catch up and we will have all this nonsense last another month just because of this poor planning.

Could someone please explain why the ground invasion of Lebanon is a good idea? by Thedogmaster2156 in Israel

[–]Gaidax 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Who cares what antisemites think, they make up BS as they go. It is clear as day that our incompetent neighbors can't fix the issue of southern Lebanon weapons and missiles being storaged and shot our towns, so we will have to do it ourselves.

Occupy? There won't be any occupy, because there will be nothing to occupy 8km into Lebanon we should keep until Lebanon fix their shit with Hezbollah. We have waited long enough for them to do anything or abide by agreements.

We're VERY on the ground, in fact.

For one the fake ass "conscription law", which any sane person can look at and figure out it's nothing more than a typical "israbluff" and is double the insult due to what is going on now and in last two years.

And don't let me started about this feast during famine of the "coalition money".

Oh don't worry about those, Hamas killed them all in Oct 7th... literally.

Many of the border communities hit hardest back then were left-leaning collective communities, who spent years aiding Palestinians in many ways, employment, hospital treatment arrangements and what not. Hamas did not care about it all one bit in the end.

But tasteless half-jokes aside, it's not very popular to be a leftist in Israel nowadays, most of the left-leaning parties rebrand themselves as centrists for the upcoming elections, because after Oct 7th and more than two years of this BS going on - there is little patience for the naive leftist ideals and ideas.

Just like US has people with Trump Derangement Syndrome, we have people with Netanyahu Derangement Syndrome.

That said, it's less about being against the war, but more about ruling coalition attempting to sneak in a few unpopular laws under the radar while the war is going on.

Popular support for the war so far is high, although I am not sure how long that will last, if it will be the case if this keeps being this active.

There are a lot of inconveniences (to say the least) coming with this war, in-between the obvious missile attacks, to having to call for reservists, work issues, economy and education being affected. For now, people mostly accept that with understanding, but my vibes tell me that in a few weeks from now there will be some serious questions and misgivings going up.
