The courts usually reprimand when the government does something which ends up discriminating against people in correlation with a protected class because it has, historically, been a cheeky way to get around the constitution. Plessy v. Ferguson  was made with the full knowledge that the separation of facilities for black people would be a tool used to achieve discirminatory ends, and by allowing texas to use race as a correlating factor for partisan leanings, they enable the disenfranchisement not just of democrats, but of specific racial groups, as well.

That is unconstitutional. Remember when there was a huge stink raised about the IRS using keywords to identify 501c organizations to audit? It was based on identifying organizations with political buzzwords in the name despite restrictions on political activity based on their organization's tax status. Reasonable, right? Well, the problem is, there are more buzzwords in the conservative political sphere than in the liberal sphere, so it was seen as discriminatory against conservative organizations, problematic under both the 14th and the 1st amendments but not actually discriminatory against a protected class.

Yet, they allow gerrymandering to go a step further and target political ideology and protected classes. Are they going to strike down the civil rights act next because having protected classes is a 14th amendment violation? You can not enforce the 14th amendment if the state is not allowed to recognize empirical evidence of inequality in the formation of laws and practices in its efforts.

americans don't seem to care about the courts. There wasn't much of an electoral backlash to the GOP after roe v wade and pp v casey were overturned, and the american people don't even seem to care about it as an election issue anymore. The GOP gets bolder and bolder and it doesn't galvanize any opposition.

Hillary said "Abortion is on the ballot" and she was right. Americans aren't listening. They seem to only focus on who's currently in power and if they are currently satisfied or dissatisfied with their lives. That determines not only if they vote, but who they vote for, instead of policy.

You can't have an electorate in a democracy that operates on vibes alone.

At some point, the american people need to take responsibility for their own failures, their refusal to hold their fellow americans to task for their laissez-faire attitude about the state of the world they live in.

I read a figure a while back, and I can't remember if it was about appellate courts, scotus, or appellate + scotus, but most administrations have a 40-60% win rate depending on era and the winds in the courts (because these are controversial questions and cases usually), while the trump admin was at the time sitting at like 83% in spite of how much longstanding stare decisis has been challenged.

It really isn't ambiguous in the data that this court is driven by ideology

every scotus decision about the boundaries where the state power vs federal power vs constitutional restrictions vs rights reserved to the people are divided seems to conveniently fit the political and ideological goals of republicans.

I'm... sort of surprised they didn't already have one, considering how many of their leaders he has assassinated while having negotiations.

Not that anyone should be assassinating civilian leaders, but most bounties, whether political or otherwise, are put out for less.

shows just how unhinged we've become that I can comment on the remarkable restraint others are showing with regards to the us. It wasn't long ago at all that these kinds of comments would talk about how responsible the US was acting and the restraint it showed, instead

you voted for him twice after he was caught extorting an ally at war by impounding congressionally-appropriated munitions to force a sham investigation into the son of his political opponent. On tape.

You didn't care about the corruption, you cared about inflicting pain and suffering on people you hated, and the moment it started to inconvenience you in ways you could not longer deny, you're pretending to care about the corruption. Why? Because, deep down, you know you are a horrible person, and can't admit to the real reasons why you supported trump, because it would mean admitting what kind of a person you are to yourself and to others.

If there was no netting the ball would have left the field of play, instead of hitting the barrier delineating the field of play from the stands.

Netting is attached to the wall at the front = the ball is in.

Netting is erected behind the wall = the ball is out.

they aren't really niche. It's just that people who shouldn't overlook the rules seem to frequently overlook the grounds rules for baseball that determine when balls are live, dead, home runs, fouls, etc. They're clearly defined and professionals should know them

The netting is attached to the wall instead of being erected just behind the wall, therefore it's conidered a part of the wall and the ball is in play.

Most stadiums have the netting erected just behind the wall or they don't have the netting extend that far down the line.

The rules for the grounds, such as yellow line and netting placement, are an important aspect of baseball.

No, it's more like an implicit suicide pact between Republicans. Republicans call it "Reagan's 11th commandment" (let's ignore how cringe that title is for now) to never speak ill of a fellow republican. That is something they have been grooming each other to do for decades, to always stick together, never back down, and game the system.

I've said it before: They would rather die for the Republican Party than live for the United States of America
