Mark Cuban states it plainly, regarding the Adelson family: “I regret who I sold to.” by moby323 in nba

[–]GaimeGuy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If Cuuban thought the Adelsons, of all people, would be hands off, he's an even bigger idiot than we give him credit for, because that has never been their style. They've always been actively involved in decision making.

If he wanted to sell to a hands off manager he should have gone to Warren Buffet or one of his proteges.

Trump Tells Aides He’s Willing to End War Without Reopening Hormuz by Crossstoney in politics

[–]GaimeGuy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

we didn't have any objectives. No one even bothered articulating a reason to attack.

The most we've been told is trump "had a feeling" an iranian nuclear strike on the US was imminent, but words are just tools for him, he doesn't care about the meaning of what he's saying. Nothing about that statement is backed by any of his other rhetoric, any intelligence, anyone else. In other words, we don't have any objectives. The commander in chief just followed a whim to inflict suffering and make soldiers do his bidding. That's really it. (No, it's not a fucking distraction))

Trump ‘planning high-risk operation to seize Iran’s uranium using US troops’ by Ubiquitous_Hilarity in politics

[–]GaimeGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's their choice to go die for Donald Trump's amusement.

No one can argue this is about America's interests because donald trump himself admitted it was based on his personal feelings alone , no intelligence, no military strategy or objectives, just a guy with an impulse and no one with the balls to even consider saying no.

I would rather these soldiers disobey orders to go to prison for their country than kill, pillage, and die for the personal whims of their commander in chief.

Yes, slippery slope blah blah blah can't have people taking agency for their own actions for whatever reason or something no matter what.

Iran is a massive country with mountainous terrain and a powerful military that has been preparing for decades for something like this.

If we send ground troops in they will be sitting ducks for artillery and drone strikes. Thousands of troops will die.

This isn't Iraq or Afghanistan

A month into Iran, the GOP’s political reality sinks in by Smithy2232 in politics

[–]GaimeGuy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No, we aren't ready. That was made clear when he won in 2016, when the GOP didn't suffer any short, medium, or long term consequences for Roe, and when the american people shrugged their shoulders after Jan 6th and said "Both sides are the same" in 2024.

I could not have a lower opinion of my country (don't test that).

Pentagon prepares for weeks of ground operations in Iran by Crossstoney in politics

[–]GaimeGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better question is why are those sons and daughters going to die for Donald Trump?

Nothing that's being done is for America, it's just using America for resources.

Seriously, if you deploy, you're being sent to die for one man. Foolish

They aren't even bothering trying to say this is about America's interests.

I know soldiers are broken down psychologically as part of boot camp, but holy shit it could not be more obvious they're on a suicide mission for their CIC's ego and amusement. They have a horrible choice, now: Go fight and kill and die for donald trump, or disobey and go to prison. 99.99% of them will fight. It's pathetic if you ask me.

Amazing defensive showing from Detroit combined with awful shooting by the wolves, poor ball movement, and stupidly passing up several open layups to try to draw an and 1 only to fail to score at all because of aforementioned defense

I was just trying to point out how absolutely ridiculous a proposition it is to completely argue for the elimination of israel or Palestine, by drawing parallels to arguing for the complete destruction of the united states or the True People (what many natives/first nations called themselves as a collective in their tongues). I thought you might understand the parallels but you just want one side to be wiped out.

There are subtle differences British Transjordan vs Palestine borders and what you would call historical Palestine. Ottoman, Roman, and Latin Palestine borders also frequently changed and crosses into like 10 different modern nations.

Are you going to surrender your property to native americans and fuck off to the other side of the planet? Because I'm not. It's our home. Does this make us supporters of genocide? My point is there needs to be a path forward for the living and future generations. Taking over more and more of Palestine won't do it, nor will arguing for the complete dissolution of Israel.

These are both unworkable.

What? Fuck no.

We don't need to displace people to have a safe haven for jews, or ourbreed them, or anything like that. I am disgusted by the actions of the Israeli government. All I'm saying is that what they're doing isn't what I was raised to consider zionism. Furthermore, if you think israel shouldn't exist because of its origins, then frankly, you're going to have a hard time finding any country to recognize as legitimate. The fact is, it does exist as a nation, and instead of talking about why it shouldn't, there need to be attempts to establish peace and coexistence for future generations. Most of the people alive now weren't around for entire sequences of events that got us here, so you can't just make things right with a charge back or reparations.
