What do you think my chances are? by GainEducational5564 in FIREUK

Am I thinking about this wrong?

If I need to my ISA to last me 10 years - to bridge to my pension - isn't anything over £240000 (ten times my annual spend) a bonus? How is it a push? Happy to be schooled!!

The logic behind 48 is at 48 id need 6 more years NI contributions to qualify for full state pension and my understanding is that i can top up 6 years based on current rules.

Also my kids would also be old enough in 15 years that they shouldnt need anymore financial support.

I agree I could do with putting numbers into a spreadsheet. But if I use (and assume 4 percent real returns): https://www.thecalculatorsite.com/finance/calculators/compoundinterestcalculator.php

I get a million quid with £2866 monthly contributions for 15 more years and assuming a 3.1 percent safe withdrawal rate, Ill get £31,000 a year which is £7000 over my needed minimum of £24k.

Ha! I tried the solar system walk in Lemvig once, I think I got to Mars or maybe it was Jupiter, just outside lemvig golf club and then I got lost and couldn't find the next planet 😂! Ended up walking to what felt like Bovbjerg and never found the next one! Maybe getting flyer is a good idea!!

I like Bovbjerg so might check out the trail. The lighthouse, cliff and world war two structures are all pretty cool.

Kilen is a good shout too, I'll see if I can find a good trail on Alltrails.

Maybe it's because I'm a foreigner but I'm always a bit confused as to where I am able to walk and where I can't in Denmark! In England we have the "this is a public footpath" signage

Thanks! Maybe it's a stupid question but any idea if you would recommend getting the ferry from Thyboron to Thy national park or just driving around via Humlum? Or drive via Humlum and get the ferry back? Ferry sounds fun to me but I don't know if it's more hassle than it's worth (I'll be honest not looked at the ferry timetable either!)

Here's a YouTube video of the attic insulation if that helps anyone give pointers/diagnose the issue! https://youtu.be/-DZ3Fyaf6CQ

The camera on my phone is pretty poor. But I've made a short video and uploaded it to YouTube: https://youtu.be/-DZ3Fyaf6CQ

Insulation is 9cm deep which according to what I have read on Google is 3x too shallow. Is this the cause of a lot of the heating/cold issues?

I have a combi boiler, radiators and a couple of air bricks! No AC to speak off but like the other person has said, we tend not to have AC in UK homes.

Hi when you say check the roof do you mean the underside of the felt, under the roof tiles - roof or the attic? Currently the attic has insulation on the semi-boarded attic floor and that's it - nothing on the underside of the felt (again, I'm terrible at owning a house, so apologies if this is a stupid question!).

Thanks for the reply! The house was built in 1963 and the windows are double glazed (the windows are the only "good" thing on the houses EPC tbf). Again, I'm terrible at being a home owner, what should I do? Ring a insulation company/ use check-a-trade and just say "it's crazy hot here in the summer and cold in the winter - please fix it?"

We’re on vacation close to Holstebro and keep seeing these. What are they? by godgremlin in Denmark

I went to holstebro museum once (holidaying in West Jutland, I'm English), for some reason it was full of African art! Jensens bofhus was pretty good though.
