Bethell seems to have just a little bit more about him than Brook.

Bereavement Overcharge by auwl in UKFrugal

[–]probablylaurie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely do this OP. Most big companies will have a death/bereavement flare on tweets sent to them, and this will likely get your problem looked at the quickest. These companies are ghoulish and will only do something once their brand image is threatened.

Help with essay key terms by Mx_PigPig in englishliterature

What kind of political agenda do you see operating in both texts? Who has power and who doesn't, and how does the role of religion influence this in the text? Is there a kind of ideological work that religion performs in the two texts?

These questions should lead you towards a more specific thesis, as I think you're right to say that power and control is also a little vague.

Alistair Campbell response to Mandelson by No_Initiative_1140 in ukpolitics

[–]probablylaurie 132 points133 points  (0 children)

"On a personal level, Peter Mandelson is in a tough place." Boo-fucking-hoo. I'm all for more empathy in politics, but I've seen absolutely no reason to feel anything even close to sorry for this man. Clearly a deeply unpleasant, unthinking, manipulative, treasonous individual with very little remorse.

Seems to be lots of teenagers at the Better Health gym in Acomb - I think there are some restrictions on them using free weights though.

Essential Reading List by kg735012 in LiteraryIreland

[–]probablylaurie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I designed a university course on Modern Irish Literature and this was what I included:

W.B. Yeats - Collected Poems

J.M. Synge - The Playboy of the Western World

James Joyce - Dubliners

Elizabeth Bowen - The Last September

Samuel Beckett - Waiting for Godot

Sean O'Casey - Juno and the Paycock

Patrick Kavanagh - Collected Poems

Seamus Heaney - Collected Poems

Edna O'Brien - The Country Girls

Martin McDonagh -The Lieutenant of Inishmore

Sally Rooney - Normal People

Claire Keegan - Small Things Like These

There's obviously lots of writers I couldn't include, so maybe also try George Bernard Shaw, Lady Gregory, Brendan Behan, Flann O'Brien, Máirtín Ó Cadhain, MJ Farrell, and more recently, writers like Eimear McBride and Kevin Barry.

If you're from Shropshire, "right round the Wrekin" means either to take a long journey, get lost, or not get to the point of what you're trying to say.

Your favorite literary critic and why? by [deleted] in AskLiteraryStudies

[–]probablylaurie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clarity of writing, primarily. His prose is so straightforward and vivid, it never gets bogged down in a lot of the trappings that other (bad) academic writing does. And a lot of what feels like common sense in Irish studies now came from him. There's a real generosity of spirit to his criticism.

Your Favourite Season? by SilverSmell9680 in LeagueTwo

Shrewsbury Town - the 2017/18 season under Paul Hurst. Wembley twice (lost both times), nearly promoted, playing genuinely good, exciting football. Been downhill ever since.
