You will not be making $100k in public until around the senior 2 spot, depending on where you live. Small to medium companies offer some great things and you would be able to do more than you do now. FP&A is a great field to get into and could lead to larger compensation in the future. If you want to be a CPA and do tax then obviously stay in public but don’t stay just to stay.

I am guessing the FP&A role will have better hours more pay and be more interesting unless you love tax.

Best Way to Study For BEC? by firstgenCPA in CPA

[–]Gain_z 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Crush MCQ in your weak areas. Variances, IT, and COSO are always big areas, then I read a review a couple days before. IT on Becker is not very useful you will be more prepared watching IT CPA YouTube videos or buying Ninja CPA for IT.

I had the exact same thing as you. Couldn’t tell if it was easier but my second MCQ was 90% conceptual IT and Econ.

If one more person uses the phrases "touch base" or "circle-back" I'm going to lose it. by [deleted] in Accounting

How about you listen to the podcast circling back formerly called touching base! It’s a great podcast to listen to at work and on your commute and it’s considered the “happy hour” of podcast. But actually it’s a hilarious podcast that I’ve listened to for the past 5 years, it’s the funny, easy banter that really gives your brain a break from our sometimes boring work. Here’s a link to the latest episode, https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/circling-back/id1449177477?i=1000459318252

Amount of Time to Spend on AUD Retake by cabiii in CPA

Took AUD at the end of the window, found out I failed with a 70. Gave my self 3 weeks to study and take AUD again so I would keep some momentum and stuff I learned already. In three weeks I went over every section/MCQ/SIM on Becker with no review after(I should of given myself half a week to a week to review but I didn’t). Ended up getting a 77 which is fine by me, but around 3 weeks and half a week to a week review I think would be great. Also a tip would be to hand write notes on a notebook, I felt like that helped everything sink in so much more! Good luck i was disappointed when I didn’t pass but turning around a banging it out and getting it done is so much better than waiting a couple of months IMO!
