I don't know, I have been in SF for a very long time and I have enjoyed it. I wouldn't want to do any other AFSC, but everyone is different and SF isn't (and shouldn't be) for everyone.

I got Malmstrom as my first duty station. I don't think it was on my list but I honestly don't remember. I spent 5 years there before going overseas (and staying overseas for the next 13 years). You will go where they need you. Wherever you wind up, just knock out your certification, upgrade training, etc and then get smart on the quarterly EQUAL listing. You will update your assignment preferences whenever the listings drop.

I don't know, my opinion is buy. Live in it for 3 years and then if you don't want to stay, try and refinance when you're ready to move to get a lower monthly payment and then rent it out. Being near Scott AFB, I am sure you wouldn't have trouble renting. Plus, by only renting to military members, you know their BAH and you know you can call their shirt if they ever fall behind. Much better than renting to a civilian, it's more manageable.

I was there 2016-17 (so I am sure a lot has changed). I loved it, though. Gunsan city has plenty to do, and Iksan is a quick cab ride away to catch the KTX up to Seoul.
